bigger problems and harsher reality lifestyle here in H town. there are things strange enough to be considered sci fi fantasy, but steampunk's not one of them.

This town sucks so hard. No one even reads? Really? What's "gay and lame" about reading? You'd think the library would do something Steampunk.

I had to look up what "steampunk" even was. Rest assured, Sadie, steampunk lovers do not have the market cornered on reading, it's just most people don't like to dress up like Christopher Lloyd in Back To The Future III when they do it. The library will never do a steampunk-related activity, because they don't usually do things like that when only three people in the 200,000+ MSA will actually participate.

Steampunk is right up there with World of Warcraft enthusiasts on the nerd scale.

are you 15 or something? Why on earth would the library do something steam punk? Because there are some books written in that very small niche of a genre? That's ridiculous. Read something good like some Beckett or Kafka.

If u read Beckett and Kafka you'd be more broad minded about what other people enjoy. Why are you mean? I hate this town.

I think my meanness comes from you assuming no one reads because they don't read steam punk stuff. It's just a very silly assumption. I do apologize though. I hate this town too.

Read some Marquis De Sade books.
That man had some interesting thoughts about things.
He was very open minded on a broad range of subjects.

This forum is the wrong place to ask about anything unless you're looking for pills and hookers. There are probably some steampunk folks around here, you just need to ask around at places like Purple Earth and Hometown Hobbies. Also, check out Tsubasacon and Tricon, Huntington's annual anime and comic book conventions.

There was a great Steampunk band THE EXTRAORDINARY CONTRAPTIONS at Tsubasacon the past few years. They have a website too. It's once a year anime convention but you could maybe meet other ppl with similar interests. Good luck!

I don't know what you mean but reading the books but steampunk is a style not a book. If you engage in something you are actively doing something not just reading about it. If you want to meet people of a like mind you can maybe start an interest group at marshall or something however steampunk is a trend found in a small percentage and I'm sure this town does not have enough people to actively start an expensive trend like that. I you like something you should do it anyway, if you have to ask if other people are gettin into it maybe you should find something else because you are only tying to fit in with a very small crowed of people.

Steampunk refers to a style based on an mixture of Victorian and futuristic iconography. You can just as easily google steampunk and find what that means however if you are looking for books that are steampunk-ish try looking up classics written in the last century.

Also just because you can't find people who are just like you doesn't mean huntington sucks. I like living here and I don't think it sucks. People who say it sucks are the reason it sucks. Try going out and looking at the positive rather than dogging the city. I you can't find anything that's good in the world around you then you are looking at it wrong
