I worked there. I always treat my residents with respect and kindness. I was fired because I had refused mandation 3 times in a year. I would be mandated 4 out of 5 days a week. Four 16 hour shifts and one eight hour shift a week, then get the phone calls on my days off requesting I came in to work. They are short staffed as with just about any other facility and the Administration would complain about a paper towel in the trash can, while we were changing beds or giving a shower to a resident before breakfast. They lost their contracts with the staffing agencies and over work their staff which in turn causes a LOT of issues.

You sound like a very caring person. I appreciate greatly your taking time to respond. It sounds as if you did the best you could do there.
In asking the one question I have been getting many responses. All any of us want is for someone to care enough to do their best. Thank you for that.

As much as I appreciate your response, it sounds as if you are not happy about an employee. I am sure you have your reasons - I don't need to know them - I understand. Thanks for responding.

Thanks for your response, however, I would appreciate no names in the posts. I'm sure if you call the facility they can let you know if she still works there.

Thank you for taking time to respond to my post. Without asking questions, we will not get the answers we need. Your response has been most helpful. You are speaking from first hand experience, and I appreciate the fact that you mentioned no specific names of individuals.
As I posted before, all any of us want is for someone to care enough to do their best. It seems as if you did. I admire anyone who chooses to work in the health field - especially nurses. I cannot begin to imagine how difficult it must be.
Thanks for mentioning a place to check out. I will. Again, my utmost respect to you and all the nurses in the world. You are appreciated.

Thanks for your response, I would appreciate no specific names mentioned, I'm sure you understand. It sounds as if you were not happy with an employee and that is duly noted. I am sure you have your reasons. That's fine and understood. Thanks again.

Don't ever put someone you love in a nursing home of any kind, unless you have additional 24hour care.
Thank you for your post. I agree with you, however, the reason someone is looking for a place with 24 hour care, is probably because the family cannot provide it. There should be good care out there for someone we love.
In my asking about the Huntington Health and Rehabilitation Center, I have learned a lot. I didn't even know it was even a "nursing home" until a few short months ago. I thought it was only a Rehab facility of some type. That is why I was asking about it. Thanks again, for taking time to respond.

I used to work at Huntington Health and Rehab. My peer CNA's and LPN's and the DON were all great! I worked there for a couple months and it wasn't bad. With any agency you work for, there are good eggs and bad eggs, you know? For those who care, the best care is given to the residents. I unfortunately was let go, but I have no hatred for the company. There were mandations to worry about, but it comes with healthcare - there will always be shrotage wherever you go. If we aren't there to help the residents, whether we have to pull a double shift or not we aren't being helpful if we do not help them. The DON at the time (early 2012) was a female, and she was the best. I mean, the absolute best and so was the ASST DON. I miss working there terribly, and wish I could go back now that I am going back to further my education.

It is not a terrible place to work, when you do wrong - you do wrong and you have to admit fault. Personal accountability was a life lesson I learned from HHR, so I can't be anything but grateful for them.

My father is currently being cared for there. For the most part, I like it. There have been a few occasions where we have had to remind staff that he needed to be fed, bathed, completely cared for. I'm sure that goes for any facility though. Hope this also helps!

I think they are a pretty average nursing home however The staff always seemed professional and treated my father very good while he was there. He didn't like the shared bathrooms but I can tell you that my father was admitted there after he had surgery for stenosis Of the spine with complications. They had him from not being able to move from the waist down to walking in just under three months. I will forever be grateful for their physical therapy program. He was at the heritage center before that and it was not a good experience for him.
