I'm wanting to get a cake that feeds around 40 people. Are their prices expensive and is it worth it?

Yeah I already got jumped on once for saying this but its just my opinion. I've had Paula vega cakes and to me they are way to expensive for what you get. The cake is dry and tasteless and the icing isn't that great either, although there is enough icing on one piece for the entire cake. Angies in proctorville makes a pretty good cake but they are kinda expensive too. Depending on what occasion you are trying to buy a cake for and if you don't care if it comes from a local bakery, I personally suggest SAMs club for occasions such as birthday parties, anniversaries, baby showers....any occasion where you just want a nice sheet cake. I get all my cakes for such occasions there and I always get a ton of compliments. Their cakes are very moist and have a great flavor and we get the butter cream icing and it is wonderful. They have very cute cakes and adorable cupcake arrangements for an array of different occasions and their prices are VERY reasonable. They even do picture cakes now too so if you want a picture of someone or something on the cake just take the picture with you when you order and they can put it on the cake. I got my cake for my baby shower there and it had a little baby laying in a flower on it and other flowers all over the cake and it was beautiful. They have also done my sons birthday cake for the past couple of years, one was Elmo and the other was cars and they both turned out very cute. If you do order from them, however, my only suggestion is don't use the guide they give for how many people you can serve unless you plan on serving very very small pieces. To feed forty I would probably recommend the full sheet cake from them. That is what i got for my baby shower and we had around 30 guests and everyone got as big of a piece as they wanted and we still had a little left over. If you have to have a local bakery though for whatever reason, I would recommend angies over Paula vega any day, to me though, like i said before, I'll stick with SAMs for anything other than weddings or events that need more than sheet cakes and cupcake arrangements....great quality for a great price in my opinion and with the way my guests ate and complimented on the cakes they seem to be pretty happy with the quality as well. Good luck with your party wherever you decide to get the cake from.
