I think WSAZ did a wonderful job last night with their several hours of storm and tornado coverage. (I am not an employee). I switched over to WOWK once and their coverage was of the weathermen and some lady that wouldn't shut up and let the weathermen speak. They were also showing the track of the storms from their desktop computer screens like the viewers were able to see the screen. I could have turned on my home computer and see that myself from the National Weather Service. No wonder WSAZ is the number 1 station in the tristate.

Thanks for pointing that out about the computer screens! I find it annoying and my husband gets really irritated with it. He says the exact thing you do! If people wanted to look at the internet, wouldn't they just turn it on? I used to skip around between the 3 stations for news...WOWK, WSAZ and WCHS. I don't even waste a second of time looking at WCHS channel 8 anymore. They're hopeless. More wrong with that mess than I have time to list. WOWK used to pretty good. They've grown considerably worse, and now I almost never give them more than five minutes. I didn't see the weather coverage (I wasn't home), but I know what you mean. They get way too wrapped up in a lot of lingo that doesn't really matter, vague rambling explanations about what's going on six states away, etc. I get frustrated and switch. They act the same way about non-weather stories. WSAZ is the best. Personally, I think even they devote a bit too much time to the weather. Tony does give TMI most of the time, but the younger guys are great. For both weather and news, the reporters are clear, concise and they put the main points in the front of a story. One important thing...when a story is tragic, WSAZ reporters have the civility to look sober and use an appropriate tone. I've seen reporters from other stations talking about a murder or seriously injured child as if they are ordering at a burger joint.:( WSAZ for me!

I watched WOWK shortly but switched and stayed with WSAZ. WOWK must had some cameraman just walking around their newsroom from desk to desk to show Spenser Adkins and that lady search the Internet for storm info. I couldn't make sense of their weather maps. It was just a big orange blob on my tv, you couldn't see what state, county or town the storms were passing thru. WSAZ always blows away the other stations with any kind of emergency news coverage.

They did great Friday night but their Sunday morning infomercials detract from their stature.
