Not criticizing or anything at all, but don't they need another sugarglider's company to survive? I'd hate for her to go to someone and that happen. Just a heads up. I may be wrong! Google is more helpful than me.:)

My friend had 2 sugar gliders and not at the same time. He took both of them to regular vet visits, loved them and gave them everything in the world and both of them died. After what the vets told him after the second one had died absolutely was devastating. It's cruel for them to not have a mate. It's absolutely disgusting how they trap them in Australia in order to go on the pet trade market. There's reason you have to have licenses in most states. In the country that they're native to you have to have them registered and have a license. If you've never seen how they trap for trade you really should educate yourselves. The want for sugar gliders is so demanding that the breeding pool is pretty small in the us, which leads to shorter life span and some birth defects.

PEOPLE WHO HAVE SUGAR GLIDERS NEED TO DO FULL AND COMPLETE RESEARCH ON ONE AND REALIZE HOW OFTEN THEY NEED TO GO TO A VETERINARIAN, AND HOW EXPENSIVE IT IS TO FEED AND KEEP THEM PROPERLY SUPPLEMENTED.

-It's not an animal you can just acquire and try to "wing it."

-There's a good chance that the sugar glider you're obtaining is a product of speed breeding or a "trap and trade" animal. Think of a puppy mill but with sugar gliders.

-They are a nocturnal animal and should not be disturbed during the day. They are nocturnal and it causes them physical stress to be disturbed during the day. You can cause them physical harm by disturbing them during the day

-THEY ARE SOCIAL ANIMALS. It's cruel to not have at least a mate for them to be with. As well as having one for a while and then deciding you no longer want it and give it away or sell it.

-If you can not afford to properly keep them fed and supplemented with the proper food and supplements specifically for a sugar glider you should not have one.

This information is TOTALLY untrue. Sugar gliders need a buddy to interact with on their own level. A human cannot be substantial enough for a sugar glider to maintain a healthy long life. Sugar glider that are kept alone can become severely depressed and self mutilate them selves and or just die of loneliness. It is HIGHLY advisable to have a buddy for them. The need hours of attention and surely a human cannot provide "all" the hours of attention nessary for their well being.

I myself have 2 male sugar gliders and they get 4-6 hours of attention from me during the day EVERYDAY, and they have each other to play with at night. They are nocturnal. So the play at night. If you are interested in purchasing a glider do your research about them before buying one. They are an exotic pet, so they re exotic prices and exotic to maintain. Vets, foods, cages, toys, pouches, tents etc.

I agree completely. Although, to disturb them during the day will not harm them. They like to be cuddled, petted, and carried around in pouches during the day. This is their bonding time with you as heir owner. The do need a mate weather it be male or female. It "has" been done having one glider as a pet but the quality of life was not very well. This is probably why your friend who has 2 at two different times did not fare so well.
