I heard this may finally be close to happening. Any truth to it?

I thought Jason was cutting down? Regardless, it wouldn't matter. Pettaway is a boxer and Bates is just a slugger. Anytime bates has faught a boxer and not some former tough man champ, this has been exposed. Those big ole arms get heavy, the shoulders start to drop, then the chin comes up as he's gasping for breath. Dance and jab for a round and make him chase, after that he's a sitting target.

Yea Bates has zero head movement. He just stands and swings. Jason is down to cruiser but would still work him over. You're right, one round of making him chase and it's all over.

I doubt there's any truth to it because Bates is far from in fighting shape. Pettaway is in great shape but he is a cruiser weight now.

Even when Bates was in shape he didn't want the fight so I know he doesn't want it now. Pettaway could come in at 205 and still easily beat Bates

Bates dont do much anymore i dont think he even trains . Although petaway has stuck with boxing more bates used to box well before he just started looking for one big punch. But jason got rocked at the toughman 2 years ago by a guy thats 200lbs and soft. If bates hit him with that shot jason wont get up

Bates may fight again but it will be overseas if he does. He is training again. I can guarantee you that he and Pettaway will never fight. Many of the pros in the tri-state treat their profession like a brotherhood. Everyone helps each other. Pettaway's manager is Bates' trainer. Now, geniuses, figure out how you're gonna make that happen. And, just so you know, Bates was a 3-time regional golden glove champion. Yes he can box And move his head. When he's ready to spar, maybe one of you keyboard commandos can message him on Facebook and set up a sparring session.

Pettaway has wanted this fight for a long time...remember when he challenged Bates after he beat Robles at the toughman? Brotherhood has nothing to do with it. They are professional fighters and it would be a nice pay day for both of them. Bates wanted no part of it because at the time Pettaway was undefeated and Bates had lost 8 of his last 9 fights.

If Bates was in his prime it would have been an interesting match up (only because of his punching power) but right now he would be totally over matched.

Really? I've talked to Jason about it several times and he wanted the fight. Jerry Thomas told him he thought he could make it happen so that's why he called him out. I talked to Jeremy about it after the fights and he said he would do it but for no less than $10,000 but it would probably more like $15,000.

He accepted the fight so he wouldn't look bad but threw out such an outrageous price to make sure the fight would never happen.

They have sparred each other before and believe me Jason wants the fight and Jeremy doesn't

Wrong again. I train with both of them and have been around them both every step of the way. I spoke with both of them today and both of them are laughing at you. Did you also know that we all rode in the same car together and drove 4 hours to some fights? Quit living in a fantasy land. Neither of them want the fight. It would never happen anyway. Move on to a new subject.
