Who besides me is sick and tired of hearing people in WV claim that their "granny was a Cherokee princess"?

Who besides myself is sick of blonde, blue-eyed people in WV claiming to BE Native American?

Who besides me is sick of seeing people of Eastern-European descent cover every wall in their home with dream-catchers, eagle feathers, wolf figurines and talking about their "vision quest" while burning sage and waving crystals around in some bastardization of someone's actual heritage?

I think it is an embarrassment to our state, and a big red flag declaring that the fake has no education worth speaking about.

Who are you referring to exactly?

I am unsure of anyone waving crystals, burning incense, or doing a hula dance. Please elaborate.

Wouldn't be right to single out people and give their real names...tho I do know several that behave this way in WV. I just think it's too common. I can't be the only one who sees this.

I know exactly what your talking about and it is cheesey as hell sometimes but check this out, I have blue eyes and blonde hair and my Grandfather is 100% cherokee and even had to live on a reservation when he was young, no sh1t! When my son was born we had to bring him up there to his house so he could put the baby in the middle of the floor and do some friggin Indian dance around him! On the reservation (in one of the Carolina's) they had to eat rats and dogs and anything they could get their hands on. The thing is almost anyone from around here or in most of this country that can trace their family here back to the civil war days has 'some' Native American A.K.A. Injun in them. But having said all that I still know what you are talking about and its sad too. I dont have any of those stupid dream-catchers or indian tattoos or any other of that "Cheif LampShade" crap either. I like a lot of the real indian stuff like their knives and tools and their livin out-door type things but not the cheesy crap that is made to make a buck on, most of it just makes me bust out laughing!

I am Native American and proud of it! I am half comanche and half white. I have blue eyes. It took a long time for my grandfather to even claim me. I was borned and raised in prichard-wayne. I visit my family in oklahoma and attend pow wows. I can speak some comanche. I am still picking up the language, since I was not raised around it. I am proud of my heritage and have art work and dream catchers in my home. I know the meaning of everything I own. I know alot of people don't know the history of stuff they get. If They have EAGLE feathers, they better have papers on it!!! It is illegal!!! I understand where you are coming from about seeing people that say they are from this tribe or another tribe and they are not. I have been to several pow wows in the area and they are not traditional. They break so many rules! I always end up leaving because its the way it is suppose to be. I am Comanche and there is nothing fake about me. I have the papers to prove who I am!

I have blonde hair and blue eyes, and my grandfather on my mothers side is 100% Native American. I don't have my home decorated in dream catchers or anything. I got my hair and eyes from my super white daddy.

You know, the type that this thread is referring to often say, "Great Granddaddy was a full-blooded Cherokee",'cause it SAYS SO on the birth certificate.

Here's a little history tip, when you want to call "bullshit" on some windbag.

Back 120 years ago or so, if a baby was born 1/2 white and 1/2 ANY OTHER RACE the parents would ALWAYS try to get the birth cert. to say simply "white" because it was just advantageous. Their child would have more rights. If you want to know what the REAL race of someone was back then...read the death certificate. It will often prove to say something completely unexpected.

I once came across the records of one man, on birth certificate it said "white", born around 1875, records showed he'd lived in the same town all of his life. He died around age 45, around 1920. The death cert. declared him "Indian". So, in kind of a sad way...all of his friends, neighbors, had always known, and just went along with the deception, so that he might benefit...but after death, for some reason, someone wrote down the truth.

Death certificates are WAY more honest than birth certificates, usually.

I heard an indian boy ask his father how they came up with their names. His father told him that when the man left the tepee after the baby was born u named the baby the first thing u see. Such as soaring eagle. The father then said why do u ask Two Dogs Humping?

Has anyone ever heard of Heart Hays aka Katheryan Shay Greer. The fake Native American who says she is half Comanche and is related to Quanah Parker? Look her up. She is another one who needs to be included in the Fake Native American list. She has no Native heritage!

I have blue eyes and brown hair a direct descendant of Chief Cornstalk. I have papers to prove it. I don't go shoving it people's faces. I am also of an Irish and Polish descent. I am not a fake and don't really give a hooey if anyone thinks I am.

You cannot tell if someone is a real Native American just by looking at them.

If you are sick and tired, It's probably from from all the heat and stress linked to you having a fear of not knowing for sure if your Great Grand Parents were Cherokee Indian's.
