My family went shopping for costumes on Saturday and we discovered that this Halloween store was at the mall. After being in the store for less than 5 minets my child fell because there is no real carpet and just cardboard in places but there are wires running all over the floor. After trying to fix my baby's scraped hands I was told by a rude employee that there is "no public restroom". He seemed to think there was no problem that my child had scratched his hands and continued to walk away. Bottom line is I had to leave to get my baby washed up and ended up just getting costumes at target and walmart.

My daughter bought a headband from the store and it was broken when we took it out but they have a no return polocy and it all seems pretty shady to me.

Have you considered contacting the State Fire Marshals office? I bet they would love to know all that.

We have no endorsement or anything, but love our experiences shopping at Magic Makers downtown. Fabulous staff - always willing to go the extra mile. Wonderful store - always with exactly what we need.

They only have a no-return policy after a certain date (maybe two weeks or 10 days 'til Halloween). So that's your own dayum fault for dragging your feet on buying costumes.

To the whiny parent...watch your fu*king kid better and maybe they won't fall. I am sure he/she was running around the store unattended. I doubt they just fell while you were holding their hand through the aisles, right? I can't stand parents that let their kids run around stores like it 's their bedroom. Pi$$es me off!

They have really young people working there that don't know their ass from a hole in the ground, and are nothing but rude. Don't stand there and yap about another customer to your coworker when you're supposed to be waiting on me. And I'm not even going to open my purse until you tell me the total. I know you're capable of speaking since you just talked to your coworker, so if you can't be bothered to speak and tell me how much, I'll just stand there till you do.

You evidently do not have children and yes this place is not safe.

Well, the Spirit store is a seasonal buisness that Spencers gifts runs. So when you buy from them you are actually buying it from spencers. That's why they have all the same displays and signage as well as the POS system. Personally I think their stuff is way overpriced and poorly made but that is true of most costumes. I doubt I would want to go into their bathroom and I can tell you they don't spend much time planning this out but their only location options this year were the old circuit city which was rented to them at a large discount or a tent on the mall parking lot.

Consumer products are NOT required to have warranties, BUT IF ONE IS GIVEN, it must comply with the Magnuson-Moss Act.

Bad customer service. Was there on Friday and the line was 8 people long and the guy behind the counter was texting on his phone instead of working. He waited until he was finished texting before he called anyone to the counter. RUDE...

Bought an lawn zombie from the store and when I got it home there was also pieces missing. Was on the phone for an hour with their corporate. Does no one in this company have any idea what they're doing at all? The girl I talked to in the store was as helpful as she could be and she even argued with them on the phone with no avail. I do agree some of the people that worked there are rude, but, what can you do when even your corporate people are telling you the customer is wrong. I'm at a loss at this point. I know that spencers will NEVER EVER get any money from me or the people I know ever again.

I'm not sticking up for anyone's rude behavior or bad service there. I'm sure a majority of the people who have complained on this page must not have worked in retail before. Just because someone works there does not mean they have the authority to bend the rules for everyone. Like some of you said, they have kids working there just to make a couple bucks on the side. They aren't the ones to be complaining at. All your going to do by yelling at them is make them care less about what you are saying.

I'd like to take the time to talk about civility. While standing in line there were three people in front of me yelling at the workers for products that were either broken or unsatisfactory that they were trying to return. They kept saying "you"; "you sell broken shit to everyone?", "You don't know what the price is." The majority of retail is out of the employees hands. The most disturbing thing was after a middle aged woman had torn into one of the employees about their being a lipstick stain on the only costume she had wanted. Was seeing the employee turn to another and say "I'M pre-med, and after this shit, I don't think I want to be a doctor anymore. Let them go to a God damn vet....we've regressed into fucking animals at some point." Then something anout not wanting to be telled at every day. Curseing in front of a customer is wrong and I do not condone it in any way shape or form, however, this stuck with me. We are so quick to place blame, point fingers and lash out. Just because someone works for someone or supplies a product that you msu not be satisfied with does not make it than employees fault. Show some respect for others.

Ok first, it's not the Spirit Halloween employess fault that circuit city was in horrible shape. They spent hours peeling up carpet in places to put it on the actual sales floor for you picky ass customers. And i know that your "baby" got hurt but maybe if you "parents" keep a hold of your kids and not let them roam and run around alone or without holding their hand i think it's you who is the irresponsible one. Yes, it's kind of rude not to let you go to the bathroom to clean your child but that building was in such bad shape the bathrooms weren't even close to bein sanitary! Plus, they were not required to have restrooms, they never have been. An employee can lose his job letting someone use the facilities. I know Spirit has been around for years now, you'd think you'd notice.

All you had to do was read on the reciept. There was a return policy you just failed to pay attention to the 100 signs posted all around the store. Returns ended 10/17 and exchanges ended 10/22. They couldn't let you do returns up till hallioween because then all the people will be wearing their costumes then trying to return them! And if something you bought was broken, even after the return policy they would have just exchanged it for you anyways. If you were rude they probably did turn you away because theres no reason for you to jump on them when it's not their fault what you got was broken. It's the previous customers who were in the store handling what you bought that broke it in the first place not the employee. And yes they would check every item at check out but it was way too busy all the time to do so. Thats the customers job to check it b4 you purchase. I mean you're the one who's paying wouldn't you want to know if what you're paying for works and check it yourself....that's called lazy, people. Oh and once again learn to read, you talkin trash about a place you obviously didn't know anything about seems really shady to me!
