C3 is a very changed place. C3 is a treatment facility that tries to help kids become productive citizens so they can find jobs and pay taxes like everyone else. There are a lot of Fucked up kids that come through and the parents, or lack there of, are to blame. Crack heads, criminals, pill heads, meth attics, and just plane criminals is what these kids have grown up seeing. When they get here they have a pretty easy life. They get 3 meals a day, a safe place to sleep, about 500 dollars worth of clothing a year, they watch cable tv and they get an education. Some of this stuff written is just ignorance. Did I mention they get to go to King's Island every year and stay in a nice hotel and eat high quality food. A lot of the staff have college degrees or they are working on one and restaints hardly ever happen. The kids see therapists, case managers, dentists, doctors, this would not be the case if they lived at home. Christmas time the kids get about 300 dollars worth of gifts and every kid gets to pick what they want, wow!!!! The kids are well dressed and well groomed and are taught by the staff how to act in public. C3 has had its share of punks and criminals and this is because a judge sent them to the wrong place, they should be in a level 3 not a level 2 facility. The staff are faced with many challenges which some can do the job and some cannot. C3 really does try hard to help kids that are at risk, some can be helped and some cannot.
I'd say you are someone from their PR dept trying to do damage control.$500 a year on clothes is nothing when they get upwards of $1,700 a month per child. And we never went to kings island when I was there. Also I never once was took to the dentist etc when I was there. Oh by the way do they still shoot the kids with the sand bag gun? And what about the padded room and the restraints?
I would expect it is more than 1700 dollars a month. Think about if they just bill a 100 dollars a day for room and board, that is 3000 a month. No I expect that therapy billings, and room and board billing are closer to about 250 dollars to 300 dollars a day for room and board with staffing being partially reimbursed through another medicaid provision.

I'm sure it is more now I was there from 95-96 and they got $1,700 to $2,000 a month per child then. And like I said not once did I ever see a doctor etc. And I'm sure the state paid for medical care I never received, along with many other kids. They aren't in it for the kids, they are in it for money!

In my experience in this field I have noted, that it goes back to the staff that work at these kind of facilities. If the staff see themselves as babysitters, or caretakers as in ( I'm here when trouble starts)the kids do not get good rolemodeling in how to handle there frustration in a positive way, I agree that without a real oversight. And a postive direction from administration. That we as tax payer's we are not get our money's wirth. But I will pay for a facuility that is real trying to teach these children life skills. That will provide them with a base to become productive members of our society.

Well, that was '95-'96. The kids in that facility have a nurse during the day and on call at night. Those kids can say they need an ambulance with no real reason or say they have a tooth ache and be at the doctor the next day. The kids are well taken care of. While the people in the front office may be in it for the money the staff don't get paid that well. Even though it may seem like a waste of money the program just needs to be revamped, because you do have some employees that do not care, horrible therapist, and the good ones are ran off due to lack of structure and lack of pay. A lot of children that come out of there continue to get in trouble because they release them, but there is no follow up. They go back to the same unstable environment they came from.

Cammack is like a swinging door. The kids can do as they please with no real consequences. Staff has their hands tied as to what they can do, and kids can freely assault staff but yet call their social worker and staff ends up on the hot seat. Problem is that cammack takes in any type of youth even the ones that belong in a more structured and higher security setting.... Just to fill a bed and take in revenue .

<quoted text>I was in CCC from 95 to 96. I was put there because of my family situation. I am today now a productive member of society.I pay taxes,my husband and I raise our child, and work for everything we have! And I have never spent anytime in jail. I probably wouldn't be a productive member of society had I not ran away out of state to never be seen by them again. They would beat the crap out of you for the least little thing, like not eating all your cherrios. Or like I was tackled by every employee there because I wouldn't let a man strip search me,I am a female by the way. And I had repeatedly said if a female was the one doing it I would strip down, but no. When a child goes into a place like ccc, they are beaten, battered and broken. The world has done damaged them. When they act out,it is because they want to reach out for help, but don't know how to. So when they are kicked when they are down so to speak, they will never change! Because it is no different than being with the people the state took them from in the first place! They are still beaten, still treated as if they don't matter, that their feelings don't matter and they don't either. So they grow up thinking only one person has their backs and that is them themselves. The system is broke. Most of the kids sent there have never known love, and have never been treated with kindness. These kids need treated with kid gloves, not beat or locked in a room for hours on end because they didn't eat all their green beans. They are put in a situation,no different and sometimes even worse than it was at home. And society honestly expects them to change? If I hadn't took off I would probably be jail bound to!!
I worked there and can agree this happens... Although not every staff member was like this. I was there for four years and only had to restrain a child four times. I tried to be fair and respectful. I'm sorry you had a bad experience. The best to you.

Really is correct. They are not allowed to restrain children and haven't in the past 5 years. As far as a padded room, that does not exist. Yes it has issues with some staff, but most of them care about those kids and try to help them. Fact: there are a lot of kids placed there that shouldn't be and should be in higher level of placement. And no I do not work there.

I was there in 02-03 for a little over a year and I turned out ok. I don't have anything on my adult record and have 2 kids that are doing great. When I was there it wasn't a padded room but there was a small room with a door that locked on the outside with nothing in it. They used it if the had to but didn't have to often. Id like to think that cammack help me in the fact that I would never do anything to go back to a place like that... timed showers, never went outside other than going to school and on fridays when we got to go out but every place we was aloud to go in wasn't for long cause the boys would usually get us kicked out. I never really seen the boys while inside cammack, never got to see half the girls either. You had girls upstairs and downstairs and when I got upstairs after school I never left until the next morning for school. The staff that was there while I was there were great. Some more strict than others but either way we were all kinda like family but if you had parents like mine that never came to visit or call and only 14 years old then you kinda fall into the family like that.

Because, like adult criminals, it is a means to try to keep these turds from wandering around in society being a menace. If they weren't in Cammack, they would be in the public school system amongst kids that are actually trying to learn. Cammack acts as a cage for the animals until they are adults and can be put in their new cages.
That's funny cause cammack kids go to a public school. West middle and huntington high

Cammack is for kids that are in the system or didn't go to school or didn't listen to their parents. I was at cammack and its all some bullshit there. They don't help u all they do is put u down and remind kids why they are there. There are only a few staff that care. When I was there staff would push my buttons so the could restrain me and laugh at me.. that place is a joke and it doesn't suprise me that kids are contiuning to do stuff after getting out of there.. that place is a joke...
