Have they ever helped any kid? I constantly see pictures of people arrested for felonies as adults who were supposedly rehabilitated at this Cammack. It seems like a major waste of tax dollars.

I got ripped off by a guy the other day for 80 bucks and he told me he went there as a kid about 20 minutes before stealing my money.

My opinion, there is only rehabilitation if you want it, if not then that's the choice you make.

What the dumbass isn't telling you is that he was buying weed and the dude copped him out of his money. He's been blowing up the posts here trying to find the dude so he can whip his ass...lol!

Would you please clarify? My main argument is they are funded almost entirely by tax dollars, and it would certainly appear this is a perverse waste of our money. No or little success with rehabilitation and countless dollars spent should make us all stop and think. I was even told that one of the idiots who tried to chisel his way out of jail with bolts from a toilet was there. Their program really worked for him.

To answer your question, Yes it is a waste of money to keep this facility operational, my point was there is no form of rehabilitation because it's not wanted nor accepted by our youth. As well I have witnessed a lot of incompetence over the years by the staff that work there. And that's just what I have observed from driving by there on a daily schedule. This is my opinion, we'll all perceive this topic differently.

Thank you. I would agree with your position. The incompetence of the staff intrigues me. My neighbor used to work there and this person routinely shakes their head when Cammack is brought up. They usually just say that I would not believe them if they told me what goes on there.

I though CCC was a home for kids without parents, sort of a modern day orphanage.

If you start listing all the ways tax dollars are wasted you wouldn't have enough space on this thread.

No, it is a placement center for children with behavioral disorders; something like juvenile delinquents. I would propose discussions about how our tax dollars are wasted is much more worthy than vast majority of utter nonsense written. Just look at some of topics put up on this.

Rehabilitation is not possible for juvie kids. As soon as they are screwed up, it is a done deal. No fixing it. Take this from someone who has worked at a facility for almost 10 years. These facilities are only around because feel-good types manage to fool others into believing that Little Billy won't grow up to be a criminal. In reality, it is a foregone conclusion that the kid is going to be a criminal.

I was in CCC from 95 to 96. I was put there because of my family situation. I am today now a productive member of society.I pay taxes,my husband and I raise our child, and work for everything we have! And I have never spent anytime in jail. I probably wouldn't be a productive member of society had I not ran away out of state to never be seen by them again. They would beat the crap out of you for the least little thing, like not eating all your cherrios. Or like I was tackled by every employee there because I wouldn't let a man strip search me,I am a female by the way. And I had repeatedly said if a female was the one doing it I would strip down, but no. When a child goes into a place like ccc, they are beaten, battered and broken. The world has done damaged them. When they act out,it is because they want to reach out for help, but don't know how to. So when they are kicked when they are down so to speak, they will never change! Because it is no different than being with the people the state took them from in the first place! They are still beaten, still treated as if they don't matter, that their feelings don't matter and they don't either. So they grow up thinking only one person has their backs and that is them themselves. The system is broke. Most of the kids sent there have never known love, and have never been treated with kindness. These kids need treated with kid gloves, not beat or locked in a room for hours on end because they didn't eat all their green beans. They are put in a situation,no different and sometimes even worse than it was at home. And society honestly expects them to change? If I hadn't took off I would probably be jail bound to!!
