Seems that we have more and more going on with the employees of the City of Huntington...

Ok, the new city judge, yep, well she didn't last long, apparently she got a "full time job" ... don't have any other details, but already sounds a little fishy

then we have Jack Carter deciding he will retire in September.... wonder if it is getting "too hot in the kitchen for him"?... I have no clue what his "official" title is, but you can bet your sweetness that he is directly under Bruce Milstead.

Oh... and speaking of Bruce, seems he has as much as admitted out of his own mouth that he will be relieved of his judge duties in Zavalla at their next council meeting

And did you know we also have a new city council member??? seems he is VERY interested in all the goings on with the city.... wonder if he will have the gumption to dig deep and take a stand against Bruce and do what is right???

As if there was not enough to keep people wondering, I just thought I would add a little more... and yes, to those of you who are wondering... I KNOW FOR A FACT all these things I just relayed to you are true....

I guess your information center should have done some better research. As you got junk mail. The fact is that Judge Julie is still the Huntington Judge and some of Milsteads friends were playing a joke on him, including her.
Jack Carter -(Public Works Director) has put in 30 long years as a honest, valuable and dependable city employee, his retirement was planned long ago and this is not new news.
As for Milstead, he is still the Judge in Zavalla and it seems like they have bigger fish to fry such as the new Mayor and some council members out for personal gain. Read Sunday paper.
The new city council member Mr. Andy Spivey is a long time Huntingtonite and is well respected in this community. I attend the council meetings and it does not appear he has a personal agenda for Bruce Milstead or anyone else. He wants the best for us tax payers and citizens. Perhaps you should try getting first hand information and attend a council meeting.
Leave our fine city out of your garbage can. We are proud of it and the people who work hard to make it better. Great Mayor and Council and alot of volunteers.

I agree 100% with you! It's only a matter of time before all their corruption comes to light, I just hope I live long enough to sit back, watch and laugh

Andrews was incorporated on February 2, 1937. Both the city and county were named for Richard Andrews, the first Texan soldier to die in the Texas Revolution.

United States Highway 385 (north-south), Texas State Highway 115 (east-west), and Texas State Highway 176 (east-west) intersect through Andrews.

Ashtabula was founded in 1803 and incorporated in 1891. The city contains several former stops on the Underground Railroad

Hmmmm #3 ----
Greenbrier is a town that developed from a minor brothel on the Butterfield Stagecoach route into a bustling city. The town was named for the painfully prickly greenbriar vines which grew along the creek through the town

hello to all of you. i am pretty new on here but i can tell you that bruce milstead has no integrity at all. everything i have personally seen of him myself, he has shown to be nothing but a hot head and his wife also. i heard they recently went to a meeting in zavalla and he was very rude and used his personal busines in his report. not anything for the city. also his wife, called a member of the community an idiot in front of many people. that is not appropriate and we as citizens in huntington should not let people like that represent us. he is making our entire community look like we support his actions. he is accountable to both communities for his actions and should be reprimanded for both for his and his wifes actions.

I think there has been numerous episodes Of Bruce Milstead losing his temper in public. I believe it will not be long before an act of violence takes place. The Cities of Huntington and Zavalla are suffering from the stink Milstead stirs. People need to stand up to him. Let a wild bull run through the cities will on result in trouble. He must be stopped.

Since no one cared to read my stand alone post, I decided to post here since so many are readibg and replying to this post. As you can see, I'm not afraid to post my REAL name. I am just amazed at the Peyton Place that Huntington continues to be. I do NOT live in the city, but I have FAMILY and FRIENDS that do. So you think I shouldn't be allowed to comment on the goings on in the city.... well, that is your opinion, BUT, as an American Citizen, I have a right to voice my opinion at any time!!! I have watched the countless posts here and the people who are "for" and "against" the entities that "rule" Huntington. I find it comical that there has been so much bickering about where a person is from. WHO CARES??? This web-site is for people who want to "Ask a question, start a debate, post a tip, or just say what's on your mind"

If you have not taken the opportunity to read Sunday's Edition of the Lufkin Daily News - the opinion page to be exact, you need to find a copy. Mr. Quin McCollough has a very interesting article titled by the newspaper "Time to clean up Washington". I say the place to start with the political house cleaning is in our small towns, and Huntington is NO exception. This small town is turning into a communistic state with the people who are "running" the city making it theirs and not yours. Wake Up people, they are no more than glorified bullies! I have been told that if you do not do as they tell you, then you are subject to harassment in various forms. As long as you are paying your bills and keeping your receipts as proof, what can they do?? I do not fear any of the city employees, I have no reason to. I can only speak of my PERSONAL experiences with these people. I could list MY issues and add the city employee’s name to them, but why would I stoop to their level???

I will say, IN MY OPINION, that the people of the City of Huntington need to open their eyes and see what is really happening in their city. I hear the complaints from many, especially about the roads – if you want to call them that – and why there are not funds to fix them correctly, BUT, the city can purchase two new (used) vehicles for the police department. Oh, that’s right, they say the police department has made enough money to fund the vehicles themselves. Ok, so why is it that the city OWNS all three utilities – water, sewer, and gas – and yet they stay “broke”?? Has anyone ever requested the FULL financial statements from the city? Yes, and I have seen some of them, and wow at the restaurants in Lufkin that have fed SOME of the city employees weekly. Of course, when asked, the city will tell you that those were “city business” meetings. Hello, can we say keep the money local!! I don’t recall seeing ANY receipt from a restaurant in Huntington. Maybe more citizens need to do their own deep digging into how the city is being run and they can get the answers to the questions they are asking me. These records are PUBLIC and you are entitled to see them.

I have attended at Council Meeting, although it was more like a meeting of those who run the city just playing the game. I find it sad, very sad, that you, the citizens, do not take more interest in your city and how it is being run. Start digging, it's not that hard, and you might be surprised at what is out there that is PUBLIC RECORD and that you are just turning your heads to. It's times like this that I am glad I DON'T live in the city limits.... I would be ashamed to claim the Peyton Place of Huntington as the city I reside in.

I can only assume you are one of the Council Members whose responsibility it is to oversee what happens in Huntington. You do have it right about Jack Carter and Andy Spivey but the rest of your statements are fairy tales, few in Huntington believe. We do see what is really going on in Huntington, whether you do or not.

inacar, I agree with you. Whoever "FOR A FACT" is, must be affliliated with the city if not as a council member, as one of the "top dogs" of management or possibly in a secretarial position. And you are right, a lot of the citizens of Huntington DO see through the "fairy tales" :)

Have you seen the links I have posted for legal research and information about city charters? I have posted some stuff that should help those seeking change in Huntington and other places on topix.

Yes, I have. It's nice to know other people are standing their ground for our citizens. It may be a few of us. But it's better than none. Indeed here for the longhaul.

Thank you for responding to my post. I am trying very hard to encourage everyone to stand up for themselves. I am not sure what town you live in and it doesn't matter to me. You can submit open records requests to Huntington even if live in another state.
