Suicide by train? What a grizzley way to go. Why would a person with a wide variety of ways to die choose to be hit by a friggin train?

The train did not strike him, He got in the way of the unsteerable train and got himself hit. A terrible accident, but the crossing gates are down for a reason. Why anyone could be in such a hurry I will never know.

The cops do know the individuals identity. He was visiting from out of town and the police are trying to notify his parents. It was a very foolish and unfortunate accident. There have been so many deaths at this crossing the past few years, I think it is time for the LIRR to consider eliminating this crossing

Let's see ---4th most dangerous crossing in the state and still Aallowing 48 trains at 65 mph on a four lane road and two track crossing is MURDER by the city, county, state, feds, and railroad. Where do the idiots on these kamakazee trains come from? Better yet where are their unions sleeping not demanding road guards and why aren't their kids duct taped to the front of these speeding train battering rams?

No. A man stepped into the way of the train.
Another suicidal moron making people late. This happens all too often. There is no way this was an accident. It is very obvious a train is coming at this station. The only way to make it more safe is to have LIRR employees go to every person there and tell them a train is coming.

I know this young man and there are plenty of people hurting terribly over this. I sure hope the family, who is in route from Colorado, doesn't ever see this forum.

Don't worry, they won't have the time. Their concerns will be focused elsewhere. Since you know him so well, what made him step into the path of the train?

I don't know whey anyone would step in front of a train. My son was one of the freinds he was with and when he called me he was too upset to get any specific details. I could barely make out what he was telling me as he was so emotional. I can't imagine!

Yes let's blame the RR's for these accidents. HELLOOOOOO if the gates are down a train is coming!!!!!!!! VERY SIMPLE!! Can't make it any more easier.

I had just finished dropping off a co-worker at the station. I was waiting for the trains to pass. The gates were down, the lights were flashing and through my closed windows I could hear the speakers saying "Second Train Coming". There was a bunch of people milling around on the opposite side of the tracks from where I was waiting for the light. Suddenly, I noticed the shadow of a person hesitating to cross... like a runner waiting for the gun to fire. He reminded me of a child who knew he was doing a bad thing, that he would get in trouble for, hesitant and trying to decide. From my vantage point... all I saw was the kid start running, seemingly realize that there was actually a train coming, trying to stop... leaning backward... and then nothing. This was all in shadow... and all happened within 2 seconds. I wasn't even sure that the kid was truly hit (it looked like he stopped in time from where I was - and now it seems that the boy I saw standing there may have been his friend) and so off I went. I'm horrified this morning, and will be praying for that boy and his poor parents.

Okay then, it was murder. Someone threw him in front of the train when they learned of it's approach. Any normal person would know a train is coming. No suprises at this station at all with all the bells, whistles, flashing lights and guardrails. Until you know otherwise, you put a sock in it jerk-off.
