Lately, it seems almost every other day a young Long Islander is killed as a result of drunk or reckless driving. It seems there are more speeders and lane-weavers than ever (why do most have tinted windows?) and the disregard for the "rules of the road" is widespread. Why aren't our politicians and "leaders" speaking out about this escalating death toll? The grief of each family that mourns its loss should be a day of loss for us all. What does it take for a clarion call?

Why does there always have to be someone else to blame?

The sole responsibility on this is the driver and not a politician.

We like to blame the driver but remeber, you choose to get in the car with a drunk driver. I feel bad for the families involved but to push blame when damage is done is useless. I was in an accident and I should have known better than to get into a car with someone who had drank. Sometimes we just need to realize when not to get into the car. I am sorry for everyones loss.

I hear Sharpton will march at the scene, claiming it does not treat all people the same in accidents.
Drunk drivers, when will they learn.

I dont know why you feel like attacking me, i just spoke my mind because we never realize a lot of people can be saved if they just dont get into the car with the drunk drive, maybe then only the drunk driver will end up hurt. Im not trying to spark anything with you, im just saying my peace and you can just ignore it. But again Im sorry for those who were affected by the loss.

Regardless of who's at fault or what anyone says, all who knew her, including me, will miss her. Yes she struggled in school, yes she wasn't the perfect person, yes she has stuff on her myspace page that you may not be fond of, but besides that she was someone who could always give you a laugh and always willing to be a friend. No matter how you lose a friend or a loved one whether it was their fault or someone elses fault it still hurts. You may not want to give sympathy to her but the least you could do is give respect to someone who has died and to their family and friends by not posting such childish and rude comments. Just let people read this article without the side comments. If they want to dwell on it than fine but just not on here. I'm going to miss her around here regardless of what she has been through, done and what people may think about her.

maybe she shoulda been looking at the road instead of eating the white castle she had in her hand
She wasn't driving. She was a passenger.

Wow that is one scary Myspace page. I thught I was living on Long Island?
I just checked her my space page again and feel sad that we are judging someone without knowing them...sure our tastes are different but regardless this poor girl lost her life senselessly and I hope there are lessons to be learned here. RIP
