It is a federal crime to hire an illegal alien. Employers should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. The answer to the problem is simple. Enforce the law.

Shape it up?

MOVE IT TO THE VILLAGE!

You want them, YOU take them.

Give them Hecksher Park. Petrone does not want them in HIS Village, but he will dump them on us!

Anyone But Who is there now! Anyone but Petrone!

Newsdays proposal to a hiring site that isn't working as intended is to make a newer and better hiring site AND give the illegals a new reason to go there. It never ceases to amaze me on the amount of excuses and patronizing Newsday does for the illegal aliens here on Long Island.

How about we follow the law and just 'round 'em all up, ship them back to Mexico or wherever they came from and haul the contractors who hire them off to jail for tax evasion.

"The better approach might be to give workers a new reason to use the site."

Are they kidding? And do you have to just pinch yourself because you can't believe a newspaper would be promoting breaking the law and writing such nonsense? The cycle of failure begins with the mentality that we need to accommodate illegals and the lack of law enforcement.

I think the hiring site should be moved to 235 Pinelawn. Newsday's front lawn could hold quite a few--there's bus service right out front, and any spillage could go into the cemetary.

Of course Newsday would need to remove their security guards and let the "day laborers" in to use the restrooms and cafeteria. But since they want to add incentives and believe in OPEN BORDERS and safety--that shouldn't be a problem.

Why doesn't Newsday volunteer their land for a day laborer site since they think it is such a great idea?.

Or is Newsday all talk and no action...

The site in Huntington is responsible for an increase in local crime and drug dealing - it's ruining an already struggling neighborhood. We need to run Petrone out of office for this.

Why not just stop the problem at its source.

Stop the businesses from hiring them in the first place. they will stop loitering when they see there are no jobs for them.

The solution to the illegal immigration anarchy by our politicians is to vote them out of office if they support illegal immigration. Otherwise nothing will change because neither Obama nor McCain have any intention of doing anything but amnesty and then wait for the next 20 million illegals to invade. Newsday does not care about preserving and improving neighborhoods or Long Island. It only represents law breakers who care nothing about this country except to make a buck or take advantage of social programs that they don't pay for.

After reading how the illegal aliens don't use a hiring site and still clog the roadways looking for work, I am glad us legal residents of Farmingville faught against (and won) a Newsday recommended hiring site in Farmingville. All we ever hear from Newsday is how a hiring site will get the men off the streets and create an orderly place and process for hiring of the illegal aliens. Seems the pro-illegal alien editors of Newsday have some egg on their faces.

The people are ILLEGAL ALIENS and the Contractors are breaking tax and labor laws , and this newspaper thinks it's a good effort ? ILLEGAL is ILLEGAL everything else is trash ! The better approach is to enforce our laws and deport these people and fine the Contractors . Will this paper continue to spout this garbage when cablevision buys it ??? I think it will be worse !!!

Liberal ignorance is what...Make a general statement, often with "some say" and pretend it is truth. No need for facts. Any time a reporter starts a sentence with "some say", you know you are in for some BS with no proof. It is comical.

I am all for a hiring site. Open up one, tell all the illegals to come to the site to get work. Once they walk in, arrest them all and deport them. Will save us countless man hours trying to find them.

This Nation's Failed Immigration Bill ??? It didn't Fail , in fact the American people made their voices heard loud and clear and SUCCESSFULLY stoped the AMNESTY the government wanted to shove down our throats ! We need to rid ourselves of our two Senators - Schummer and Clinton and ALL the L.I. Congresspeople ( except Pete King). With these two presidential canadiates on their knees , we better get rid of ALL the panders . And will someone tell Legis. Cooper that E-Verify is 99.5% accurate and any problems are fixed in two days !!! Did you get a load of the crap comming out of his mouth !! What a disgrace , the way we are sold out by these politicans looking for free jobs !!

Exactly, and imagine that now they want to offer them more "incentives" to use it. Let's see, tax free income, free education for their children, section 8 housing if they have a child born here, free medical... what other incentives can we offer to get them off the street?

They are also able to get food stamps for any of their children born in the USA. That is most likely the reason for all the illegal woman with the big bellies.
