The native-born American "is not going to work for $10 an hour," Miguel said. "We will. We are here, and nobody is going to get us out of here."

This is a perfect example of the arrogant attitudes displayed be illegals.
If they are so confident they won't have to leave, then why are they in such a panic and why are they so afraid? LOL!

I know plenty of college and H.S. kids that would LOVE $10.00/hr.! That's how lawns got mowed when I was growing up anyway, you hired the neighborhood kid. A lot of the home for summer college kids are having a very hard time finding work because of the illegal population. Why should the kids of hard working TAX PAYING LEGAL RESIDENTS be out of work because of illegals?

Please sign Senator Inhofe's letter that will be given to Senator Harry Reid because you support a secure border and oppose amnesty. Its easy and takes about 15 seconds to complete.

Good idea, but we must also remember to thank those like Levy and Beedenbender who were willing to work hard and buck the status quo of the boneless policticans in office.
Remember the first three words of OUR Constituion....."WE THE PEOPLE..."!
steve levy is the only politician with b-lls in suffolk.we are all tired of paying for illegals. their kids go to OUR schools for free, because their parents live in illegal apts.,and pay no taxes.they overburden police and hospitals, yet politicians are afraid to speak out for fear of losing votes.wake up you morons they are ILLEGAL and cant vote.step up and do the right thing for the people who put you in office.GOD BLESS STEVE LEVY.

it's not my problem that the countries that they come from don't do anything to help their own. our own country is doing the same thing to US! i'm worried about THAT.
my husband is a landscaper. right now, he has no one working for him. he refuses to hire illegal workers. he pays $12 an hour, with lunch and sometimes breakfast. we have a two high schoolers and one college kid coming home at the end of the month. which will be REALLY great, seeing as we are getting much more business as he advertises that we are american owned, operated, and only employee american citizens or legal help. and you know what? these kids are DYING for work. so don't give me that "jobs you wouldn't do" BS.....that's all it is, BS!
if you have a problem with an illegal worker on your property, don't hire that contractor and turn him in to the county!!!

Good for you!! I applaud you.

so are you gonna do my landscaping for $8/hr? what you don't realize is that as much as you complain that your jobs are being taken away, the jobs that are being done by these day laborers are the jobs that none of you want. instead of complaining all the time why don't you take some time to educate yourself and ask why are they leaving their countries to begin with!
<quoted text>
Hey Sandy, are you saying that Americans don't want to be landscapers? You're kidding right? Problem is the landscapers that hire legal help can't compete with the landscapers hiring illegals because cheap homeowners want their grass cut but are too cheap to pay a decent rate. Here's an idea, if your too freaking cheap to pay a decent wage to get your lawn cut, do it your own lazy azz self...I know I do.

Good for him. I do my own lawnwork mostly, but I have a fall clean up done and I won't hire anyone who hires illegal immigrants. It may cost me a little more, but it's worth it to not be part of the problem.

I would LOVE to swap Steve Levy for Tom Souzi. Better yet, clone him and spread him around the country.

Sandy, do you actually think that people are ignorant as to the reasons the illegal immigrants are here. No, most of us aren't. Many of the people that oppose illegal immigration even feel sympathy for them. We have plenty of our own poor in this country to care for. Furthermore, there are so many impoverished countries that we can not POSSIBLY take them all in. It does not give anyone the right to steal tax funded services. Hey Sandy, if someone broke into your house because they were poor and homeless I guess that would be okay with you then, huh.

True and the kids are back to doing it again. We've had a bunch of kids coming around with lawnmowers asking to mow our lawns lately. My cousin put himself through college doing that during the summers. Worked his bottom off.

Simple fact is that if an illegal worker wasnt there, an American worker WILL take their place.

Or the HS and college kids. Do you realize how many can not find work because illegal immigrants have those jobs?

<quoted text>i agree with you 100%...my youngest daughter is currently dad's helper and learning to use the lawnmower. unfortunately, in my neighborhood, we are one of only two homes that doesn't employ a lawn service. so we are continually confronted with trucks and trailers that park facing the wrong way, blocking the road and driveway, out-of-control leaf blowers. the only complaint that gets me anywhere is sign language that i'm gonna make a phone call, lol.
I would immediately start calling the police if there are consistantly people violating the laws by parking illegally, blocking your drive, etc. I had a neighbor who used to do this whenever they had parties. I went over several times and asked them to move the cars. Nope. Finally I called the police. I was told every time this happens, jut call as it is a public safety issue. Then they would proceed to ticket all the vehicles parked the wrong way, too close to the hydrant across the street, with illegal tags, etc. It got to the point where on the weekends, the police just upped the patrols.

The crew moved out, rented the house to someone else and have since moved back. But know what? The parties are MUCH quieter and the house is nowhere near as crowded. I have no idea how many people were calling them in but the running joke was everytime a police car was seen over there, hubby would ask if it was my doing - even if I was not home!

Call them in - public safety.

We also had several close calls as we live on a blind hill with cars coming over and being faced with vehicles driving on the wrong side of the road when the parties broke up.

There was a news report on how hard it is for students to find summer jobs regionally. I wish I had gotten a chance to see it but the teaser was many kids want to work but the jobs are not there. Wonder why???

It's also illegal to block your mail box. Listen to Biker mom and be vigilant about it.
