Does this cover all potential sources of trash to our beaches? Have cities provided funding to clean out the new devices? Is this just all show and little real impact in the long run? P-T not a good reporting job. Did you just copy the press release?

Watching Mayor Foster stumble through the press conference on late news was horribly painful. I hope these things work better than his mumble mouth.

Notice that Montebello is one of the Gateway Cities.
Cleaning up the storm drains at the Source is coming.
There is also a big list of Chemicals that must be trapped.
How does Montebello plan on paying to clean up its storm drains of its own trash and liquids?

Call it a "catch-basin insert" or a "connector pipe screen" and it'll cost you $10 million. Call it a net or a drain cover (which it should've come with originally)and it would only have cost <a million. Go figure!!

This is hilarious. Those catch screens are going to get blocked by debris in the lightest rain, and entire cities are going to flood.

How about the trash on the beach that blows or washes into the water? It'd be nice if the beachgoers would stop being lazy and pick up after themselves and either put it in one of the many trash cans or better yet - just bring it home and throw it away. When I see people throwing stuff on the ground I wonder what their house looks like...then I cringe.

Maybe all the hidden bundles of money in Bell will be washed out of their hiding places and get caught in the screens.

As a social worker in LA, I have gone into countless houses in South Central LA. I would eat a runny egg off our beaches before eating a dried piece of bread off a table in some houses I have seen.

Mexicans and Blacks are the ones who leave trash on the beach, in parks, etc. White people get called nerdy and stuff because they like to clean up after themselves. Littering is the cool thing to do in an urban setting.

Im not a racist. Im more of a factist. I speak facts.

BTW, if anyone would like to go to the beach or a park and not have to deal with litter and filth, go on the weekdays before the Mexicans and Blacks go on the weekends. Your children also wont have to play on the same playground with gutter mouthed and violent children.
