California citizens have begun circulating a petition demanding that the California State Assembly opens its secret ledgers to reveal how its leadership and its 80 members spend taxpayer money.
Assembly Speaker John Perez has stubbornly refused to tell the public how $146 million in Assembly annual operating funds are being spent, claiming that this enormous expenditure is privileged information. He has repeatedly refused requests for this in turn despite lawsuits lodged by news organizations and one assembly member, Anthony Portantino (D, La Canada).
Citing “a basic disconnect between the principles and practices of the Assembly leadership,” the petition asserts that ”the public has a fundamental right to know how government spends all of its funds.“
Under the heading,“Californians deserve to know how the Assembly spends our money,” the petition is being circulated via neighbors and community groups and online at The PetitionSite.com :

WHat do you expect from a POS who lied about graduating from Berkley?
Amazing that the Dems would have this POS speak at the DNC!
