Montebello's Police Chief Put on Leave, Urteaga Feels He Was Misled

Dec 17, 2009 | Posted by: 42 yr North Mtb resident | Full story: egpnews.com

Montebello City Council moved quickly to initiate several personnel changes in the past week, starting with the firing of Interim City Administrator Nick Pacheco last Wednesday, Dec.

Salazar and Urteaga, have stated to EGP that they intend to rescind their votes for Narramore, especially after learning that Narramore “fired” Weast on Monday. “I thought [Narramore would] be a decent caretaker of the city… that’s not being a caretaker. That’s someone acting like a city administrator in an interim position. I was led to believe he’d be managing the city for four months. I was misled by the council majority and what his role will be,” Urteaga told EGP.

Salazar an Urteaga are apparently attempting to file rescind cards for their votes. Not unexpected, given this was Athens' unsuccessful tactic in the people's successful Recall petition effort, and both Salazar and Urteaga are apparently in Athens' pocket.

I do not see the connection between Athens and the votes however:
Rule number one
Some Logic

Anything Athens is associated with is bad for any City
Montbello is a City athens tries to control.

Anything Mike Lewis is involved with is bad for any City.
Mike Lewsi is Athens' spokeshole.

Salazar and Urteaga are backed by Athens

Therefore
Salazar and Urteaga are Bad for Montebello

The secondary headline is
"New council majority replaces Interim City Administrator Nick Pacheco with Randy Narramore"

Nick Pacheco was never "Interim City Administrator" he was just an "Assistant City Administrator in the Vasquez/ Salazar/ Urteaga regeime.

Nick Pacheco is disqualified to be a City administrator under Mntebello rules due to his ETHICS violations.

story says
"In the days that followed, however, both Salazar and Urteaga, have stated to EGP that they intend to rescind their votes, especially after learning that Narramore “fired” Weast on Monday."

Salazar and Uteaga are using inflamatory retoric where calm careful deliberation is required

Weast has not been FIRED- he hs mearly been placed on "administrative leave".

Why is their no outrage with this special meeting that took place on Friday. What was the emergency to fire Weiss. Why do Montebello residents have double standards when it comes to the actions that Molinari and his puppets are taking. Only a couple weeks ago people were crying about the special meetings that the former mayor was having. Now because Molinari and his two puppets are calling for special meetings it makes it o.k. Do they not want people to have an opportunity to speak on important issue like who is the police chief. Why could it not have waited for a regular meeting. If Weiss did something warranting his firing the public has a right to know. Do not hide behind the line "it is a personnel issue." That is simply a smoke screen answer. I started critizing Molinari actions some time ago and he is doing exactly what I claimed he would do. He is voilating the Montebello Citizens rights to be part of the political progress. He is making deals behind close doors, like firing the Chief without it being posted on an agenda. I have said it before and I will say it again. He is walking around like the King of Montebello. His reign of terror has begun. He will continue chopping heads. Can he at least do it in a transparent way and in the a council meeting where people have an opportunity to speak.

Molinary Watch is not Montebello Thinker
"Why is their no outrage with this special meeting that took place on Friday."
No reason there should be, Proper special meeting,

"What was the emergency to fire Weiss."
No emergency- Weiss should have been "fired" a long time ago if he ever should hve bee apointed in the first place.

"fire" Weast has NOT been "fired"- where did youget that?

"Only a couple weeks ago people were crying about the special meetings that the former mayor was having."

Not only people but now the DA is looking into Rosie's illegal meetings-
Thank "Be Happy" for that- it ws HIS idea

Now because Molinari and his two puppets are calling for special meetings it makes it o.k. "
The meetings Molinari HAVE BEEN O.K.

"Do they not want people to have an opportunity to speak on important issue like who is the police chief"
The paper said it would be before the council after the Hollidays- so chill- that way everyone can participate.

" He is walking around like the King of Montebello. " well he can strol if he wants to- he won BIG TIME

" Why could it not have waited for a regular meeting. "
Why could what? Putting Weiss on administrative leave is an administrative action not a legislative one.

"Do not hide behind the line "it is a personnel issue." perhaps because that's what the law says
The PR Flack is Rosie's person- I'll take his word on this one.

" like firing the Chief without it being posted on an agenda."

Now you reall go over the top
NOT "FIRED" and an administrative action which does not have to be on an agenda-however the review and further direction by the council will have to be.
A MAYOR cannot "FIRE" anyone- get real

"His reign of terror has begun"
Only in your mind- sleep tight

Pathetic

Urteaga quit whineing

“I thought [Narramore would] be a decent caretaker of the city… that’s not being a caretaker.
That’s someone acting like a city administrator"in an interim position.

EXACTLY

It was said several times that with Richards retiement someone would have to RUN the city.

I was led to believe he’d be managing the city for four months.

A City Manager- YES
Four months - how can that be determined- maybe moe maybe less

Urteaga also went on to accuse the new council majority of violating the Brown Act,

If Urteaga has any evidence of the new council majority of violating the Brown Act he knows he should send a "Cure and Correct" letter to the City and file a complaint with the DA.

Urteaga's accusiations are baseless and he knows it-in otherwords bullpucky.

"They are doing exactly what they accused the previous council majority of doing."

The Previous Council majority is accused of acting illegally
see:
MONTEBELLO - The District Attorney's Office is investigating allegations that a special meeting of the City Council violated the Brown Act
http://www.whittierdailynews.com/ci_14022666

""Obviously, they're very serious concerns that a lot of us share," said Mayor Bill Molinari, who became Mayor after the alleged violation"

Now what exactly illegal is Urteaga intimating?

Urteaga was misled.
Urteaga was misled by Mayor Rosie Vasques when she said shem "moved" the regular City Council meeting up two days to Nov 23 "for the benefit of staff".(more holiday time for staff)

The 25th was to be "the felons" first meeting as Mayor of Montebello.

The real reason may have been that Rosie wanted her name on the thank you commendation from the MPOA.

However Rosie canceled then failed to have the required budget meeting thus jepordising the contract she endevored to steel the credit for.
