I live at Lubec & Samoline (one block north of this horrific accident). All cars going east on Florence were diverted down my street. News helicopters and traffic woke me up early. I walked down to the accident scene at 7am. I was sickened when I saw that Kawasaki sportbike laying on its side. I have gone back to see the memorial with pictures dedicated to Sergio. Although I did not know him, I have thought of him so many times since hearing about his death. My husband died Sept. 02 as the result of a motorcycle accident. We had only been married 12 weeks. Driver had been drinking but not legally drunk. I too ride a motorcycle. But, PLEASE - those who drive motorcycles. DON'T BE ON THE ROADS AFTER 2AM. That is when the bars close and all of the idiot drunks are out. It is terrible that the innocent are the victims, and the drunks walk away without a scratch. Sergio, you and your family are in my prayers. May you rest in peace.

Jane I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I cannot imagine the grief you must be going through. My thoughts and prayers go out to you as well as Sergio and his family. I drove past the scene of the accident yesterday and saw the memorial for Sergio. I'm going to stop by there today after work to see his memorial and to pray. Anyone being out around 2 am takes a chance. My brother in law rides a Harley and my sister worries about him every time he leaves their home. Motorcycles are so dangerous. I will never ride one or be a passenger.

I drove through that intersection on my way to work that morning at around 6:15. All I saw was the motorcycle, lots of debris and police officers in the parking lot across from the bank looking around with flashlights. I said a prayer for him and his family when I went through the intersection, and several times throughout the day when I thought about it. This morning I went through the intersection and saw the memorial. I feel so terrible for the victim and his family. There was no excuse for what that guy did, and he should pay dearly for it. If you feel you need to drink, stay at home and do it. Don't take stupid chances like that.

i heard from a downey pd at school that the motorcyclist was drinking when HE crashed into the truck. the motorcyclist was taking a turn on a red light as well as the truck driver only had 4 beers, and his driving habbit was perfectly fine. so needless to say, it was the guy on the motorbikes falt. people! stick to driving cars!

there was a toxicology report, passed so hearing things from others is not as legit, the follow up police report also has not mention of victim drinking. The truck driver was just lucky he had not been caught before, I just dont believe it was his "first" time drinking. Please that is stupid we all know when you drink and drive you are bound to have an accident.

My BF and I heard a huge commotion about that time even though we live on Downey, not Paramount. I had to drive by the scene on my way to work, 5 hours later and everything was still closed off. It chilled me to the bone to drive by that twisted motorcycle, I didn't know what had happened until I got to work but knew that no good would come of it.
How horrible, may the victim RIP and the criminal that committed this atrocity burn in hell...
