UNIQUE SENIOR HEALTH CARE MODEL OPENS IN DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES
CareMore’s New Los Angeles Care Center Aims to Improve Senior Health, Save Costs
LOS ANGELES— Thanks to a unique partnership with Good Samaritan Hospital Los Angeles, CareMore has opened its acclaimed care management model in downtown Los Angeles. The grand opening of the new Care Center offered a free resource fair with local community organizations.
“Good Samaritan Hospital and CareMore are here for a reason, and that’s health,” said Andrew Leeka, president and CEO of Good Samaritan Hospital Los Angeles.“We’re committed to quality, accessibility, affordability and compassion. I believe that CareMore’s innovative plan will make it the medical hub of the future.”
Jennifer St. John of the Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce, Katrina Bada of Good Samaritan Hospital Los Angeles, and Peter Braun of The American Diabetes Association attended the event alongside CareMore staff and area residents for the ribbon cutting ceremony. Community partners that participated in the resource fair included Telemundo, Susan G. Koman for the Cure, American Diabetes Association, Good Samaritan Hospital, the Department of Aging, East LA Community Center, the Alzheimer’s Association, LA County Community and Senior Services, State Farm Insurance, and Fiesta Taxi.
“This location has been a long time coming,” said Dr. Ken Kim, Chief Medical Officer for CareMore.“Downtown Los Angeles needs something like CareMore and we want to make a difference in the community. We’re able to revolutionize the treatment of chronic diseases and we want to be able to keep the local residents as healthy as possible.”
CareMore provides innovative health care approaches to the complex problems of aging. Its model focuses on seniors who are at risk of or are developing health-draining chronic conditions, such as diabetes, heart and lung disease. The model identifies these conditions early and addresses them before they worsen. It also stresses preventing the onset of disease through exercise and nutrition.
The centerpiece of the model is the CareMore Care Center, which delivers everything from mental health screenings to toe-nail clipping for members. It also includes access to a fitness center that offers strengthening programs.
Associates are being recruited to staff the center, including physicians, nurse practitioners, medical assistants, podiatrists, physical therapists, nutritionists, psychologists and case managers. When it opens, the Care Center will be available exclusively to eligible CareMore members. For more information about CareMore, please visit CareMore.com .
