There are physical requirements to become a policeman or Fireman but what happens 2 years later? Overweight police and firemen are a hazard to themselves and the public. How many 10 year veterans could pass the physical exams? Future Union contracts should have minimum requirements and those unable to perform should be terminated. If it is important in the beginning why is it not important 5 years later? How do the Unions defend this inability to perform?

They have a difficult job but are paid real well for it. The fact that most are physically unable to do the job needs to be addressed. Their unions stand in the way I am sure but thanks for the post. Maybe Bellone needs to address this also. |
