Small dogs tend to be very hard to house train. They do poop and pee on the rug. Anyone who adopts one of her very healthy, well cared for dogs into their clean home, will see that the smell coming from Irene's home could not be helped.

Small dogs like to poop and pee, in their cages, on the rug, whereever they are. A kennel is not even enough to begin housebreaking them. I would suggest anyone adopting one of her dogs get special help in housetraining for smaller dogs.

The DAs office needs to DECIDE??? What is the question? Charges should be brounght based on evidence and God knows the photos of the conditions those dogs and animals were living in is evidence enough to bring charges! If this woman was so respected and experienced in her breeding trade she would have and should have known 56 dogs is way over the limit to provide proper care. There is no excuse other than greed and selfishness for what she did. The DAs office needs to prosecute her in the matter. Hopefully for all 56 dogs and and do so on indivual counts not a single.
This woman claims to have suffered a loss, the only loss she is mourning is the money she hoped to reap on the pups sale, Naiberg is pissed becaused it cuts into his fee. These dogs should find the good homes they deserve and live a clean, safe , loving life as someones pet not a paycheck.

And the rest of the public put dogs in a room with tile floors and newspapers such as Newsday so that they don’t make a mess on the rug. The smell of urine and feces can be helped if the pet owner is a clean person to start with.
All dogs urinate and defecate. It’s up to the owner to train them when and where to do it.
It sounds to me like you were being potty trained until the age of 10 or 11.

I've owned little dogs as well as big dogs & ALL OF THEM were relatively easy to housetrain. My little dogs NEVER pooped or peed in their crates. It's not the dog, it's the trainer, or lack thereof.
