that's so gross. so is she charged or not, and what is her real last name. this article doesn;t make any sense.
also is that 1 year per animal, oh i forgot, being mean to animals apparently isn;t a huge crime, so 1 year seems sufficient.

Fourteen years ago, my good friend purchased a beautiful, happy and healthy poodle from Irene Monroig. Seven years later, I purchased a beautiful, happy and healthy poodle from this woman. Both of our dogs are happy and healthy to this day.
True - she was a bit eccentric, but all the animals in her care appeared to be well taken care of. She was a bit eccentric and I remember the parrot. I recall her tellling me that she worked for a vet - not that she was one. The vet that I went to knew of her and told me that she was known to breed wonderful pedigrees.
I have no idea what happened to this woman along the line but seeing this article certainly ripped at my heart for both her and the animals that were in her care.

The media blew out of proportion how many dogs she really did have. All of her dogs are let outside in the yard on a daily basis. It is suspected that one of the neighbors called due to the dogs barking. It is just so sad that is has come to this. She did not neglect nor abuse her dogs. Her parrot has survived for about 20 years! And that Mr. Gross says the same thing about every breeders house they go into ..."it was the worst I have seen in years" "it is a hellhole ...etc...etc.
Please go after the real animal abusers and how about the child molesters that are living in our neighborhoods!!! Give me a break already!!! They treated Irene in such a horrible manor by showing her license plate etc. Crap they minus well have given out her social security number on the television. Shame on the media!!!

You are an idiot, she was abusing animals...She was farming her dogs out to other people to sell. She was no animal lover. How do you think she afforded her car and all the houses she owns? Maybe it was on her $400/wk income, I think not. What about the poor puppies and other dogs in her basement. It was a life of hell, don't let her fool you.

I agree with Give me a break...her dogs only barked during the day along with everyone elses dogs in the neighborhood. They are not out there barking at 9:00 p.m. every night like others in the area. Her dogs weren't a problem at night!!!

give us ALL a break, you want to live in a town that allows 50 plus animals to a house, go moce nack to West Virgina . You same sorry ass freaks who stick up for this monster are the same ones who let Mexicans live 80 to the house....as long as it isnt on YOUR BLOCK.

Please, stick up for in Court and show me us your faces. You defend her because she gave you a good deal on little "Miffy" ....

More than five dogs per home is illegal. Choke on that.

Yes, Irene was odd. Yes, there may have been feces in the house. Irene works nights at a veterinary office. After work, she comes home, lets the dogs out, then goes to sleep for 4-5 hours.(This is when the ASPCA showed up). When she wakes up, her routine is to clean the cages, feed the dogs, let them out again, and go to work. Yes the animals were in cages.. this is to PREVENT cross breeding of the animals. The "small cages" and "6 to a cage" was the litter of puppies, born earlier in the week, and the mommy dog. Irene LOVES these animals, they even sleep in her BED with her. She has not, and WILL not be charged with animal cruelty. If you check the papers, many of them have issued retractions reflecting that authorities have no intentions of pressing charges. Irene Monroig is a licensed breeder. You may not agree with dog breeding as a profession, but that's what she does. Leave her be and worry about the REAL criminals.

Your dog is from a puppy mill. Many of her older breeding dogs have gone blind. She does not care about the puppies, many have giardia(dirty conditions). You got lucky with your puppy, many others aren't so lucky...
