On this day I and my wife as well as our two dogs and our cat are feeling a very large emptiness in our lives as we today lost our beloved cat Romeo to a bladder infection. I do not know how many of you out there when thinking of your pets consider pets as the other side of the dividing line such as we are humans and they are but animals but I do know that if you think for a pico-second in life that your "pet" is anything less than more human than human then you probably as well believe that as a human you are the highest form of intelligence and that is at best laughable! In my lifetime I have had many so called pets and never do I lack the memory of sharing anything but pure joy and love because of the presence of these beings in my life yet I can bring to mind a plethora of shining examples of pure worthlessness to life that came in "people"form.... If one were to simply sit and tally up every single moment of your cat or dogs presence in your life you would never be able to find a single moment in time that your cat or dog,etc did not absolutely love you, care for you, protect you, be there for you period and yet you being of "superior intelligence" would come to discern that these acts are but some reflex of animalism......i.e., that they have no choice nor know how but to love, protect, etc you as their "master". If this is you then you are but a fool period. Our Romeo was and forever is the total defining of what it is to love and be loved for every reason that love exists and he is forever with us! It is of no shock to this writer that people like Leona Helmsley often leave millions of dollars, estates, etc soley to their "pets" rather than their fellow man when its easy to see in our world that man-kind simply cannot compare to our "pets" when it comes to being greater in every single way!

Tod. Sorry to hear about the loss. I too have lost certain "Family Members" (pets) over the years, so i know what you're going through. Our "Furry Friends" are an extension of who we are, and sometimes through a family type bond , they become us , and sometimes we become them too, and the loss is something that outsiders can't grasp. I'm just saying, I understand.

Thanks Vin, yeah I wish rest of world had even a remote sense of knowing that Cats,Dogs, etc are no different from us in that they share everything we as humans have been gifted by God and more often the "animals" are far more gifted when it comes to intelligence, compassion, care,f idelity, etc
