a poem for romeo

They say memories are golden
well maybe that is true but we
never wanted memories,
we only wanted you.
A million times we needed you,and a million times you were there,and now a million times we your family cries.

If love alone could have saved you
you never would have died.
In life we loved you dearly,
In death we love you dearly still.
In our hearts you hold a place
no one could ever fill.
If tears could build a stairway
and heartache make a lane,
Daddy would walk the path to heaven
and bring you back again.
Our family chain is broken,
and nothing seems the same.
But as God calls us one by one,
the chain will link again.
We love and miss you Romeo today,tomorrow,forever and always! Love Daddy,Mommy,Apple,Juliet, and Shadow.

Tod, let me tell you something to look forward to, maybe ease a very small portion of grief. Here's what evenyually will happen - cause this has happened to me a few times , enough to know it will come. Sometime , maybe after you dispell some of the grief and sadness (usually how it happens), you may be lying somewhere in a state of sleep or half sleep. You may be in bed , or even napping on a couch in front of the tv - and you won't be dreaming about anything in particular - and your "Romeo" will come to you, and you should feel the presence pretty strong, snuggling up against you even , you will feel this as i have. It's a very comforting feeling that you'll get, and what it is exactly , is what i believe to be the pet coming to you to tell you in their special familiar way , that they are ok and just "popping in" for a quick visit, rather...they are always around , but just on some special times, they will get very close and let you know. Hope this may help somewhat..

Vin, as usual you are perfectly right and it as well something that I know and believe in as I too have experienced it many times. I built him a beautiful little memorial garden in front of our house within an existing garden and rock pond where he loved to play and sit and watch birds. Yeah we are definetly aware of his ever present self and we thank you for your kind words and insight.
