The wreck on 49 hwy was not handled correctly. The law inforcement and ambulance service on the scene let the 21 year old boy lay in the ditch for more than 20 min. waiting for the fire dept. to get there to get him out. They did not want to get wet or muddy. It was cold !

Uhhh... You realize that law enforcement can't just run in a ditch and move someone, cuz if they do and they cause MORE damage, its their asses. I don't understand why an EMT crew didn't, that part is confusing.

Me and a friend were the ones that called 911 and were there when the deputy spotted the young man in the ditch and CAN tell you that everything was handled incorrectly I was standing next to the emt when he said he couldn't risk getting hurt by crawling into the ditch....I really think that he should lose his job for that bc that was someones child laying there

Law Inforcement are still humans. They could have at least gave him a blanket and a we are trying to help you word. The EMTs should lose their careers for not helping that kid! I would hate to know they were on the scene if my son were in a wreck. It is not nice to call someone dumb. I know the law couldn't move him but they could have tried to comfort him. I know officers who would have.

i was there and you think about this. the call came in to 911 about an accident. the woodruff co sheriffs office was dispatched. along with the woodruff county ambulance service. the arkansas state police responded. when they got there they found the young boy in the ditch. but noone went to check on him. when the firedept got there some 20 min later. they asked the trooper if the kid was alive and he told them he did not know because no one would go in the ditch to check on him. the fire dept. climbed in the ditch put a c collar on the boy and put him on a spine board and got him out of the ditch. yes the police could not move him but they could have got wet and muddy to check on him. the ambulance service should had entered the ditch to give aid. that could have been my kid our my wife or anyone family member. how would you feel. the kid died due to injuries from the accident. but would he have lived if he had got the medical attention he or anyone else dersived. sorry people it was handled wrong. someone needs to answer for this young mans life.

Whoa don't start jumping down my throat first of all, second of all I'm not calling anyone dumb that's my 'name' on here, if you take it personal that's not my problem, third, when I replied on this forum, he stated they didn't 'move' the kid, did the person state that they didn't check on him? NO how the hell was I supposed to no. Yeah that's real shitty, they coulda got muddy n covered the boy up and waited til someone who was able to move him could have. Fourth, if all of you were witnesses to these actions I suggest you take it to a higher power and get some jobs taken from lazy people. Please don't take what I said earlier as being heartless, obviously all these other details I knew nothing about.

The only reason I am on here at all is because I was hoping that someone who knows the family would read this and let the family know how their son was treated. Nothing personal just worded wrong.

I want to know who were the officers on the scene and the witnesses cause that was my best friend. Him being brought out of that cold water for those 20 mins could have saved his life!

I was there also. The crew from Woodruff County Ambulance Service was there for over 40 minutes before the volunteer fire dept arrived and they never once checked on the young man that had been thrown from the vehicle. The volunteer fire dept had to respond from McCrory which is about 15 or so miles away. The EMT never got out of the ambulance and the Paramedic said he wasnt getting down in that ditch. Lets not forget that the ambulance crew tried to drive the ambulance down a tall levee on the back side of the accident that was barely wide enuff for a 4-wheeler and got stuck. The fire dept guys had to get in the ditch, collar and board the young man and get him out in the highway before the Medic would touch him!!! The EMT never got out of the ambulance until both young men had been transported by other ambulances. I think it was a total lack of patient care from the ambulance crew in my book and i have many years of experience in these type of situations. I hope that the family of this young man follows up and makes sure that the ambulance crew on scene is properly disciplined. My heart goes out to the family for their loss.

I am so sorry for the loss. I did not have correct details. He laid in that ditch a lot longer than I thought. So sad! I do think that the family has a right to a copy of all police reports. They should contain all names involved. If nothing is done these men will respond to other wrecks. How scary.
