Said by someone from 20 miles away... I live right on the border and have to drive through the town, one way or the other, every day. Occasionally, when in a real hurry, I've been stopped over the past ten years for minor speeding issues. Professional and blunt. OK, no points
but...

I've been involved in two "crash" incidents, One on RT. 422 at the red light in front of the old Chocolate factory where I was rear ended while sitting still. The other where I was side swiped by a speeder way into a no passing area east of the same red light.. Close to the center of town ! Within A MILE of the center of Hershey ! In both cases clearly not my doings. The officers arrived at least 15 minutes after 911 calls. Refused to ticket the other parties, or myself of course, and refused to place any indication or blame either party. Oh yes, never asked about welfare or injuries... They were abrupt, almost to the point of being insulting, and obviously agitated that they had been called. Both accidents caused damages to my vehicle exceeding $ 1000.00 that I had to pay as my deductible limit.$ 2K out of my pocket !

I wish there were another way for me to get around without going through Derry Township...
Oh yes, my offices are in Hershey...

Whatever. Pot hole galore 2 million for public works. 4.5 million for the PD. People in this town are just too stupid to change priority's.

Dont dare challenge DTP. They have very little crime that occurs in their jurisdiction. So everything is about statistics and writing tickets to the working man for doing 5,10 over the speed limit. The administration forces this on the officers. But there are the officers who enjoy doing this, like Jason Rodes. As far as state police wanabees, the one i lnow for certain is the now Chief orourke. He wasnt accepted. I can only imagine for what reasons. That fool was playing with his gun and shot a hole in the floor right next to a dispatcher. Now he is Chief. The former was a drunk. That department has a lot of prestige in its reputation that is false for anyone who really knows. Only one or two of them actually know how to be a real officer. So pretty much the entire place is garbage. And i respect mostly all police and what they do. But not that place.

Perhaps you should come up with a constructive rebuttal to his statement instead of nitpicking grammar like so many people who do so just to feel intelligent? I'll add that I was profiled by DTPD on multiple occasions and found that their stream of lies and attempts to intimidate me into consenting to an unlawful search ended very quickly once they found out I was a law student. Some of them actually do not know that you can't pull people over based on what time of night it is.

Derry township police are hypocritical, difficult to deal with and talk down to the public they are supposed to protect.

First of all, they dont have quotas, thats not actually a true statement. Secondly, 95% of them never even wanted to do state police. If you knew enough about the differences between state police and municipal police, maybe you'd change your mind, just like many do. And, state police is hurting for people really bad right now, so if the state had more money to spend, they'd be taking even more people to reach their desired number.
Third: 80% of all statistics are made up on the spot.

They go through so much stupid stuff everyday and they hardly get noticed except for whatever they "did wrong". Everyone makes mistakes, it is human nature. I know them all personally and I can say that they do their best to be reasonable and understanding, but other people can be the issue or have an issue. Think of the golden rule you should have learned in Elementary School. "Treat others as you would like to be treated". Be straight, honest and pleasant, and they will do the same to you.

I have needed DTPD for many reasons over the years and they have always come through no matter what the situation.

O'Rouke, Warner and Day have been though a lot and know what they are doing. Be honest and they will help you out to the best of their ability.

And now, to this date, at least 2 private organizations and two government agencies (INCLUDING DERRY POLICE, which include 15 or more people have been involved in cover ups, hiding, blocking, and lately, an unseen by me .docx document entitled "Meehan persona non grata" has been published to an unknown number of individuals. A published "Meehan Persona non grata" document has only one derogatory and libelous meaning, which attempts to destroy my nationally known Music/Recording personae well established at www.roughmixdon.com and http://www.allmusic.com/artist/don-meehan-mn0... .
That statement: "... about my mother, I'm trying to get the facts strait... Anthony Pieruccini" has been published now on 12 Topix.com sites in hopes of continuing a dialogue and also that someone will convince Anthony to learn of the true facts about his mother's death when he was 18 months old; true facts from official court records,(we have them all) and not from hearsay.

I have lived in derry for the past 10 years and i have had many positive experiences with them EXCEPT JASON RHODES, i am not a teenager, I'm in my 50's. He is rude, actually very intimidating, and very threatening. He lies and bullies and hss no regard for treating a person with dignity.

I recently had a good friend pulled over by a Derry Twp police officer for simply having a burned out tail light. Instead of giving him a warning the female officer fined him $160.00!! Apparently she's trying to get some feathers in her cap......

To all those who say cops are "pigs" or dicks, you walk a day in their shoes. Most if not all of them have families and kids. Hershey has one of the lowest crime rates in the area, for a reason. Police presence. Yeah, they ticket people a lot. Simple fix, slow down. As a member of the emergency services in town (no, I'm not a cop) there are too many deadly accidents in the area, all caused by speeding or DUI. So next time you disrespect them, do yourself a favor and ride along for a shift and see all the things they have to deal with.
No fake its a low crime rate in hershey........its a higher class of ppl - duh. Its not because of the cops. Thats like saying i have perfect teeth because theres lots of dentists around, in hershey. How dumb. Theres no slums in hershey

No police unit within reasonable driving distance deserve the term pigs more than the no good swine in Derry Township. I hate living in Hershey because I work long hours and literally need to strategize my route home based on police presence, for I received a warning once when I know I wasn't speeding (cops normally only give warnings when the amount over the speed limit is low and therefore somewhat questionable). They lay traps late at night when there are few cars on the road and people take advantage of the low traffic; they also choose strategic locations for their traps, often on an incline or places where the speed limit makes a considerable jump. The ones that I've dealt with are rude and there is an army of them in this town; indeed there are armies of them everywhere I go lately; I suppose since we don't tax the rich, municpalities are using police as their local shakedown agents - it's a racket if there ever was one.
Yes, the police here are arrogant bastards, who use the badge to flex their immense unrestrained egos
Taking advantage of low traffic? That means speeding because you think nobody is looking. Which endangers others who may be entering the roadway or maybe on it (possibly broken down)
Take responsibility for yourself and quit the cowardly tax the rich to pay for your stupidity and desire to break the law!
I have had one encounter with Derry. They were very professional! I was not breaking the law and therefor was not ticketed.

Derry Twp police officers are the best! They contacted me, made sure my mother did not hurt herself or another, and were understanding & respectful, yet very insistent with her to give up her license. WONDERFUL, professional people. And they have to put up with the PUNK above - Informed Citizen - You might earn a degree & whole pile of money but you'll still be you -- an idiot.

I broke no law, but was still harassed and jailed by some young Derry Township Punk named Jason Eisenhower . Once his ludicrous charges made it to the District Attorney they were of course all immediately dismissed, but because cops have immunity from prosecution there was nothing I could do about his harassment, false detainment or the fact that I had to pay $5,000 to have the charges removed from my record... During the course of my ordeal I spoke to State Police Officers from Troop H about my unfair treatment by Derry Township Police and was told "In the Police Community, Derry Township has the reputation of not playing nice even with other Police Agencies"... which in laments terms means they are a bunch of arrogant, over the top a**holes and they are proud of this fact!!!
Oh, and if your elderly parent is repeatedly driving dangerously then obviously Derry Township isn't doing there job. What are they doing waiting until they kill someone before they do their job???

I think it's funny you came on here and then grammar checked an online post which I do not even care to proof read. When I post online I never proof read or even care to have good grammar, let alone perfect grammar. Seems like you must be a cop, know one, or be married to one cause your behavior just exemplified the type of anal behavior befitting of a Derry Township police officer. For your information, I am a business administration major at Penn State's Smeal School of Business with a 3.84 cumulative GPA. Go online and look up Smeal's ranking amongst other business schools in the nation (You will be surprised to know that it is one of the best in the entire country). So trying to make it seem like I am ignorant is quite funny because I can guarantee that I am smarter than you, will have a better degree than you and will definitely make more money than you. This is why the D.T.P. hate college kids. They know that we are smarter, are working towards better degrees (Not just associates degrees which most cops have) and will make way more money than them. It must really irritate them to know that in less than 2 years when I graduate I will be making more money than them and will yield more power in the community. After all, pretty much anyone moron can be a cop, but not every cop can be a business leader in America.
I am a former law enforcement officer, recently relocated to the Hershey area. It us unfortunate when members of a department ruin the reputation for the entire department.
As far as morons being police officers, while wearing my uniform, I held a bachelor degree and have since earned my MBA. I would hardly consider myself a moron. It is this type of stereotyping that breeds the divide. There are some people that want to make a difference and as you gain more life experience, you will learn that your self worth goes beyond the dollar sign. I say that from the perspective of a household with upper middle class earnings. I have found my greatest successes from things that do not hold a monetary value.

I do hate to hear of corruption within any agency. It is unfortunate when people in positions of authority abuse their power and nothing is done to stop it. Plain and simple it is bullying. I have no respect for people who bully others, regardless of their position. As a new resident of Pennsylvania and the Hershey area, this is disheartening.
