Well said Mr. Fenton. Political swine still believe that they can repeal the law of supply and demand despite all evidence to the contrary. Hubris is certainly not in short supply.

That would suggest that the price of hubris is cheap. In my experience, that's not true.

Great thinking while you seem to make a substantial living handing criminal defense work. What about the abuse of prescription drugs? Why bother having doctors write prescriptions, just go grab a handful of what you need at any corner store. Those stories of people committing burglaries and robberies to steal the prescriptions of others, are just part of government propaganda. Legalize them, collect taxes upon them and the problem will go away --wooops -hey, that logic isnt working with that or with alcohol abuse. Bottom line, addiction is addition,- Alcohol - illegal drugs and prescribed drugs becomes part of people's lifestyle and the use is accepted risk. There are those that can use marijuana, prescription meds or alcohol only, and not touch anything else - and function in society. There are those who use weed, and move on to something else. Some may be responsible - many are not. Bottom line, it's against the law - and if someone is compelled to use the substance, in violation of the law - there has to be a penalty, same as any other violation of law. You like to speed, go ahead, get caught - pay the price - fines, insurance loss of license. Sometimes, government has to step in to help the people that can't help themselves. Your constant editorials about legalizing drugs or which way a tank turret faces, appear to be little more than a selfish promotion on your part. Meanwhile you keep taking your clients money and they keep getting convicted.

To Logic: It is certainly an honor to have my very own creepy cowardly anonymous stalker. I just wish that my very first creepy cowardly anonymous stalker could have been one who had mastered the English language to the point that he could write in complete sentences.

I am acquainted with and respect Mr. Fenton. However, tongue strictly in cheek, the LDN used poor timing in publishing his letter. It should have been published on Wednesday, April 20.

Why? Because 4-20 is considered the highest (pardon the pun) holiday among those who indulge in cannabis.

A joke that I love to tell to college-age people goes like this? Why is high noon a better pot-smoking time than 4:20?

Because at high noon, all the big clocks go "BONG...BONG...BONG...! " ;-)

It's high time (another intended pun, although I am actually serious) that marijuana is legalized, regulated and taxed, with the exception of medical marijuana, which should forever be tax-exempt as any other medicine.

Marijuana should be sold alongside bottles of booze, which are perfectly legal, but booze is much more harmful than marijuana.

I'm not sure how you come to the conclusion that one intoxicant is more harmful than another. Intoxicants work by keeping your brain cells from functioning properly - and "the problem with stopping to think is that people forget to start again".

If I have to walk through a cloud of smoke in order to use the urinal at a sporting event, that's a physical attack upon my person, and it should be treated as such. Willie Nelson has stopped smoking marijuana, and is recommending to all others that they stop smoking it as well. Instead of harsh smoke, he inhales a moisturing mist.

People have long baked marijuana into brownies, but there are many who find brownies to be unacceptable because of the sugar content. Other herbs are baked into bread, and there's no reason why marijuana shouldn't be. I suspect that it could be incorporated into a fruit smoothie, or used any place oregano is used, such as putting it in meatloaf or on a pizza. I make my own italian dressing for salad, and include cilantro and dill weed; if I were a pothead, I'm sure marijuana would feel comfortable in a salad dressing.

But please don't smoke the daggoned stuff. It's bad for your lungs, and it's rude to subject others to your indulgence without their consent.
