They used to keep drunks overnight and I think that should still be the policy.

When they're sober in the morning in a jail cell can be a wake-up call.

Too much chance of driving while drunk when they're released the same night.

Rumor has it that the mom, dad and son left holding hands. Son could be heard telling mommy and daddy that he is sorry and will never do something bad again as long as he lives....

You should not speak so disparagingly about your mother. Now get back in her cellar, on her computer, and you'll be breast fed at 2000 hours. And cease and desist from slingin' your diaper on the ceiling.

If he was relaesed to his PARENTS , they are told that THEY are repsonsible for him that night. If they don't want to be responsible for him , than they can refuse to come get him.

He can then go to Central Booking for the night and plan on giving a couple of hundred dollars to the state in fines.

Which is not a crime therefore they should be not punished by being forced to pay for someone's cab that is not responsible enough to stay sober knowing he has to drive home...

At least he didn't get behind the wheel of his car and possibly kill or maim an innocent person. The guy should have called his folks in the first place to come get him since that's what ended up happening anyway.

Yeah, potentially saving a life by preventing a DRUNK DRIVER. That does seem like a joke.
