CAN HE REALLY DO SOMETHING ABOUT THE CRIME IN ORANGE COVE OR IS HE JUST HERE FOR THE MONEY

I'm surious to see what the police chief does about the shooting. since all magic and sherrif's officers looked like they were handling the situation. was chief even involved? or is he still "settling in"?

Yesterday I went to pick up my child at McCord School and to my surprise; the school was in lock down
There was a young man stabbed to death a block away from the school. I am so sick and tired of these gangs who have no respect for life. Something must be done soon. And this is not just happing in Orange Cove, its every city in Fresno County. The new chief of police should have been pretty busy yesterday. And I wish him all the luck in the world. Hes got a big job ahead of him.

Go ahead and knock our new chief. He's laying the groundwork for an effective police force, not playing superman. You can learn alot from watching a cat waiting patiently for the mouse to expose itself. The mouse never knew what happened until it's too late.

Patience.

Get 'er done, Steenport!

The Sheriff's Department continues to handle law enforcement in Orange Cove.

Lt Kandarian, at the request of City Manager Alan Bengyel, provided a verbal report at the City Council meeting about the killing that occurred on Sep 23.

I will summarize my notes from his verbal report on a separate thread on this forum.

Until the City completes some additional "paperwork" regarding the POST Certification, Chief Steenport will probably remain in "organization mode", preparing the current facility (the old police office that is in the Fire Department building).

The GOOD NEWZ announced by Bengyel at the City Council meeting last night, that he was advised that by having the City Attorney modify the City Ordinances used for the old police department, they will speed up the POST approval by two or three months. Glenda Hill (as I recall) made the motion to proceed with the expedited process and accept the "first reading" of the applicable ordinance.

As Fred Hall commented recently in the "Times", one local elected official said there would be a new police department "over his dead body" ... I searched and there is no corpse in or around City Hall -- and the OCPD is proceeding post-haste!!
