Black man shot and killed by officer. "Victim" was a passenger in a car stopped during "routine" traffic stop. Shot while running away. Supposedly.
Few details. Unsubstantiated report of "shot in the back".
No official word from police chief or others.

The law around here has got to the point to where they do what they want-- they make their own law--it is a shame - but many people say they don't even want to go outside of their home anymore--things are a little better now that james webb is off the bench- at least we have a good judge in case you do have a problem -

Maybe you should get more details from reliable sources about this case before you make judgments.

red yellow green or black why does it matter the color of the skin when it comes to awrongful death what the importance of this situation is if you allow one person regardless of the color slide or spanked on the hand for something unjustified in his or her eyes everyone is going to want a ride on that bus stop and put yourself in both families shoes.

9 days later, still no official accounting of what happened.
One can only surmise that the killing was unjustified because of the huge delay in release of the shooter's statement and the release of the other officer's statement of all the events before, during and after the killing.

It is more than obvious to me, due to there being no excuse for delaying the official accounts, that Humboldt is spending a lot of time fabricating a defense for the shooter.

15 days since the officer murdered the black guy.
Still no official report from the city or the state investigator.

How long does it take to invent a defense for the officer?

Where is the officers' statements? Are they waiting for the coroner's report before writing or taping their statements? Most likely.

What did the cameras show? The longer the wait the more unbelievable the stories will be.

Humboldt residents you must take your city back from these vigelanty officres who believe thier above the law, if a civilian shoots someone in the back its a open and close case the person is guilty and must sit in jail untill he goes befor a judge but this officer is still free and hasnt given an account for his actions and it would seem that his department is covering for him or at the least buying time untill people forget and let it die down then they will just give the officer a slap on the wrist. Humboldt speak up and speak out demand swift justice and dont let this person death be in vain, its so easy to forget untill the next time when it might be a member of your family or it might be you!!!

O.K.

1.) We have a black gentleman that is a passenger in a car that is pulled over by a police officer.
2.) The gentleman leaves the vehicle and flees the scene.
3.) The gentleman is shot in the back and dies from his wound.

I have got to ask:
1.) What possible reason would anyone exit a vehicle and flee the scene, during a "routine stop?" It cries: "I'm guilty of something!"
2.) How do we know any of this is fact? Documented where?
3.) Has the TBI been called in? If so, they are very thorough and it does take time.
4.) Has anyone asked a councilperson, their representative, or a lawyer (Legal Aid, DA, public defender, etc., would be a start) to inquire where the investigation is?

Sorry, counting days and creating mischief without good, solid, verifiable data does no one any good. If you posted more action items on what you have actually done and when, instead of whining and counting days when you have a mind to do so, I think others would really care what you have to say. In fact, I personally would follow-up if I had anything that I could count as substanitive data.

Otherwise my friend, you are urinating in the wind.

Replying to Beale---That is the point of my posts. Why haven't the statements of the officers involved been released?
Yes, the TBI investigated. Yes, an autopsy was done.
NO OFFICAL REPORTS have been released. No statements have been released.
What possible reason could there be to take a month plus to release any official account of the events that night???
Actually, we all know that the officer will claim to have seen a weapon. That is a given. Another reason for not issuing an official statement is the hope of the city that illegal drugs will be found during the autopsy. That will cloud the issue.
It is rumored (again, no official accounting) that he was shot more than once in the back. If that is true, accidental discharge want be a defense.
Are you a friend or coworker of the officers involved?

You have me al wrong. Your postings are designed to accomplish something. I now gather it is to evoe some kind of emothion or outrage, but you were so ight on spcifics, I could not get too excited, or until I know what the perspective of the otherside is. Even here you did not address my basic query, that being what ACTION you had specifically taken to get the answers you seek.

If you have contacted the police, prosecutors office, councilperson, and representative, I personally would go to the media (paper, TV, radio, etc.) and even the NAACP. One of these outlets would get you some answers, I can assure you.

And, no I have no friends, police acquanitenances, etc., in Gibson county.

The TBI is still waiting on forensic results in the shooting death of a Humboldt man, according to a news release from the Humboldt Police Department.

Chief Raymond Simmons contacted the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation this week to ask about the status of the case, the release said.

Police have said Officer Paul Carrier shot and killed Roy Glenn Jr. on Feb. 22 after a traffic stop.

TBI investigators would not comment other than stating that the case remains under investigation while they wait for forensic results.

When completed, the TBI will turn over the results of the investigation to the District Attorney General's Office and not to the Humboldt Police Department, the news release said.

Carrier, 29, of Milan, and another officer were patrolling when they saw a car parked along Front Street leave at high speed, officials have said.

After the officers stopped the car on Vine Street, Glenn, a passenger in the car, jumped out and ran, police said.

Carrier chased Glenn to Mitchell Street, where Glenn was shot and killed.

Members of Glenn's family and the driver of the car have said that Glenn was unarmed and was running from Carrier when he was shot in the back.

Carrier remains on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.

The Glenn family and friends plan to hold a march in memory of Roy Glenn Jr. at 10 a.m. Saturday. The march will begin at the Rose Hill Cemetery and end at Humboldt City Hall.

From what little info the HPD has given, it may not of even been a traffic stop. The car Glenn was in only traveled 2 blocks before the car stopped. Why the car stopped and Glenn got out, according to the driver, is Glenn needed to relieve himself.

Again, as more time passes between the shooting and any official word on why the officer shot Glenn the more suspect the reasons become. The officer's statement has not been released and he should of given one as close to the shooting as possible. Don't need an autopsy for him to give a statement.

It doesn't matter why Glenn ran, what matters is why he was killed. Just running from the law is not a justifiable reason for Glenn to die.

There were two officers there that night. No statement from either has been released.
