Unfortunately this was my weekend to work, Friday, Saturday and Sunday....What a Mess! Excluding people driving to work, I don't understand why people feel the need to venture out in blizzard conditions. At one multi-car crash with an injured child, I asked the father why he was out? He and his son were going to visit some family....Geeez!

I really felt bad for people on secondary roads. Friday we didn't even respond to peoples calls of being stuck. As of Saturday there were still numerous subdivisions not plowed and impassable. If there was an emergency, these residents would have been put at risk.

I paid attention to the road clearing this weekend and give it a failing grade. I can't fault the road crews and place blame upon the county commissioners, they control the purse strings of the road commission. I understand the need to be financially responsible during these times, but not at the risk of the people whom put them into office.

I'm grateful there were no serious injuries this weekend. We expected the worse and was suprised how well things turned out.

I paid thirty thousand for my SUV and now they're selling it for 12k???
Anyway, I bought this so I could drive fast in the winter and not worry about snow and ice.
I don't see why people don't just get out of my way? I drive real fast, right up behind them so they know to get out of my way and some of them don't take the hint that I'm better than they are.
I paid for my right to not let the weather make me slow. If the roads might make an accident then the government should tell people that there might be trouble. Either get out of my way or things will get ugly.
I hope everyone is alright and they learn to buy bigger vehicles so they don't have to worry about snow and ice.
That's why half of those morons I see in the ditch or upside down or on their side on I-94 are 4WD trucks and SUVs. I understand now- many of you are under the false impression that you can go any speed you want because you have 4WD. The problem is 4WD doesn't do anything for you when you lose control on slippery packed snow or ice and your vehicle's mass actually makes it harder to stop. Too bad they can't sell a little common sense with these vehicles.

I looked up idiot in the dictionary and saw your picture. What kind of stupid remarks are those anyway?
I drive an SUV at a reasonable speed in the snow and all the jerks in the small cars pass me.
That's why I carry a tow strap. Pull the little cars out of the ditch after they passed me and make some extra money.
Get a life.
While you have that Dictionar out, you might want to lok up the word sarcasm.

That poster was obviously joking.

Some of the people out and about are actually working! Visiting nurses, people delivering food to the elderly, People heading to work at the power/gas companies. So before some of you jump on everyone on the road...maybe just maybe that person is going to out to fix your power, going to comfort your dying mother, or taking food to your sick father!!

If the authorities were aware of significant power behind this storm, why did they not shut down the roads ? We all have been living here long enough to know how bad it gets, especially in this area where this accident took place. I understand that people need to use common sense but I am also sure had the authorities shut down the roads , this and many more accidents would've been avoided and lives saved.
soooo ....... it's the fault of law enforcement that people crash, huh?

Big vehicle, big bucks....big on speed...ARE YOU JOKING??????

My SUV is almost 15 yrs. old and I had another one before that for more than 10 yrs. It cost a lot LESS than most cars do nowadays; and it certainly ISN'T built for speed! I, opted for 4WD all these years to have better control on country snowy roads to go back and forth to work, because in Michigan you never know what the weather will do or how long winter will last. I am CONSTANTLY being passed by people in FRONT WHEEL DRIVE cars, who think that gives them more control than a SUV. If you really looked at the ones who are speeding for the conditions, it is mostly front wheel drive cars, and not the older car models, which is easy to tell, because they are crawling. I have driven 131 highway now for over 35 yrs. between Wayland and G.R.; it's NOT the SUV's flying on the highway!

The point is NOT WHAT YOU DRIVE, but whose driving! I think idiots who speed for conditions would do it no matter what they are driving.

I would rather take 10-15 minutes longer to get there, than end up in a snowbank , or put someone else in a snowbank.

Tis the season for dodging sleds here. Did you know that they don't have to stop to cross roads???

At least the ones down here don't think they do! Some of them have been raising hell in the fields by the dairy farm too. Give it another week and they will loose access to that field.. unless they want to stink!

~NOTICE~
The about was not for ALL sled drivers, only the morons that decide to yell at me because I'm actually shoveling my sidewalk... or yelling at me because I happen to be there (stopped watching to see if THEY were going to stop) when they come flying out of a field without looking and crossing a major road. Most sled riders I know are very respectful of the property they are riding on and no to look both ways before crossing a road.
