don't you think this is overcharging?
Ottawa County Cops are total **** HATS!
the *ss hat punched a cop because he didn't feel like going to jail. I say charge him with everything you can think of. and if you don't like OC cops then don't break the law - that's a really easy way to NOT deal with them.

I think your comments are both measured and supportive. Adding some truth is always a good thing!

I remember being 19, I am so glad some (okay alot) of my choices did not make WOOD TV.

We must not become a society that takes joy in the troubles of anyone, but especially our kids.

A little mercy goes a long way, and this young man has already shown all of us a good part of his best.

something you did or didnt do cost you 85.00 and your wife's time to clear it up...was it your erro, your wife's error or the sec of states error....either way your post does not make it sound as if it was the OCSD fault.

To Carol Jimmy's Aunt:

Your family was in our thoughts this Thanksgiving and believe me when I say next Thanksgiving this will be a small distant memory. I will give Blake the message and I'm sure the following week Jimmy will be back on the field and we can cheer our Nephews on together.

From one Aunt to another, may all the nay sayers get their due.....

I believe WoodTV needs to re-check their facts before the write something. Maybe start with the actual police report. Good God WoodTV is a bunch of amatuers. A high school newspaper is more accurate.

Not surprising to me, anyway they need to leave the kid alone, he is not a public figure. This is a kid who got drunk and ran. Big deal.

To Becky, Blake's Aunt, thank you so much, and you're right by next Thanksgiving they will have someone else to talk about, if not sooner! I just can't believe that some people live in such a perfect world and something like this has never happened to them or a family member. Once again, Becky, from one Aunt to another, thank you so much!!! I would like to talk to you again, so I'll give Jimmy my e-mail address so I never have to come on this site again and we can keep in touch! Carol,(Jimmy' Aunt)

I don't think anyone says he should not be held accountable for his actions.

In my case I just say I think it is wrong for the media to focus on students. The kid will need to deal with the consequences of his actions, but let's not put everyone under a microscope because they are a student athlete.

There are a lot of kids doing dumb things tonight and I would rather let our judges deal with them without adding this kind of media attention to the situation.

There ARE a lot of kids doing dumb things EVERY night. But this was pretty darned stupid.

I'm sorry, Dobby, but if this kid knew what the media was like these days -- and unless you live in a cave somewhere, you DO -- he knew what the consequences would be.

He made a choice. It was a poor one, and we all know that when we make a poor choice, we have to live with it.

No sympathy OR empathy here.

I guess what bothers me about this is I would not want kids to choose not to play because WOOD TV has nothing of real interest to put on TV.

...and now that we are seeing more and more High School sports on TV do we go after those kids, as well?

He must and should face the court for the choices he made that night, but I am not sure I can agree what this kid did that night was worthy of the lead in every media outlet.

As much as I do not care for what your bud, Judge Servaas did, keep in mind it all started from a couple of dumb comments, a couple of comments that 20 years ago would have gone unnoticed....That blew up into an investigation that will go to the Supreme Court and could even result in criminal charges.

...and this is for a guy that no one really argues is one of the best judges around.

What chance does a 19 year have while the media inserts itself into every detail of a kid's life who is a public figure because he has had success as a student athlete?

The cop lost his flashlight, now Berezik is going to be charged with it? I know how the courts and cops like to make money, but this is a total joke. If the officer didn't have his equipment secured, he should be flipping the bill. Luckily it wasn't his gun, though you know it would have been found in 5 minutes.
All that will happen in this case, and you watch, it will be nothing but fines going to the courts. All he did was being a drunk fool that screwed up, yet the media destroyed his future now. Hope everyone is happy that is involved in this.
I thought the same thing!?/ what the Heck? oh, he stole it and he took it to the jail cell with him?? Hello? what a lame cop to blame him on that too!

It is amazing how dumb some people are. The larceny charge results as a charge because his actions resulted in the loss of the equipment. Since his actions were, in the first place, criminal he becomes criminally responsible for the loss. More than anything the law is designed to get police agencies paid back for the loss/

As for your stupid truck, the officer would not know anything without stopping your daughter. Of course given your hostility toward the police department I am sure the rest of it is true. More likley the officer was not sure, pulled her over and decided it was not too high and let her go.

Of course you, being part of the Half Wit Crew, has to turn it into something evil.

What a jerk.
