Yep. He knew he was going to get caught, so he had to get rid of his stash.

What gas he did steal, he burned up during the chase.

I think It's pretty bad when we get to the point where we cannot afford gas. But that's the econemy we live in. Atleast he did not rob the gas station.

Probably burned the majority of it in the chase

Just a speculation, but he has probably done this before. It is unfortunate that people cannot pay for their gas, but his running away because of a drive off does provoke additional interest in why he ran into the bathroom. I would have to agree with some of the other posts in saying it sounds very plausible that he was dumping drugs. Otherwise, he just had a runny butt. ;)

It has nothing to do with the economy.
He probably had no money because he spent it all on drugs, which are now...WHoosh...down the drain.

How do you know that, Iam pretty sure that you know nothing about this story except what we have all read. they said nothing about drugs. And If by chance this person did not have a job/ Which I cannot believe that he maybe was unemployed, Since we all have jobs these days, Could have a little to do with the econemy/with no money.

I do not get why people on here are so quick to judge people and add their own little story to make it become a ant hill into a mountain. UNTIL one of their relatives or friends are caught doing something stupid, Then they defend them. And start to say oh no they would not do that/ect.GEE people do not judge so quickly.

He forgot his money at home and was just going to get it and return to pay for his $ 8.97 worth of gas he just pumped. Yes $8.97, it was a Volkswagen right?? Next thing he knows, the cops are after him. That scared the crap out of....... so he stopped at the rest area to clean his pants, because no one wants to sit in lock up with poopy pants.
LESSON: Make sure you have your wallet before you pump your gas.

Well It could happen..........

Anyway the police could be more effective with the tire deflators and thus end the chases sooner? Is more training needed?

is there really a good place to hide in a rest stop bathroom?
maybe he forgot to lock the door.
did he use the handi-cap stall ?
those are the nicest, lot's of room to hide in those!
I hope the guy wasnt actually from the jenison / hudsonville area, because then I'm ashamed we have such idiots living here.
I hope it was worth the $8.00 in free gas!
that V-W probably would have made it to Kansas on that much!
