I am also wondering what's going on with the campground... any updates? A bunch of friends meet up there every summer from all over the midwest and I'm in charge of setting it all up. But I'm in Green Bay and don't know if I should wait to see if they're opening or look elsewhere. Any ideas of what is next best? I was thinking either Floatrite or Rivers Edge...?? Any opinions or help? Thanks!!!! |

I was informed from city hall that they were going to be closed for this season only. No explanation why.

Family feud I hear, spoke with the owner of float rite, they might be purchasing, if it comes available |

Bummer. I’ve been going for the last 10 years. Any of you know what the better place would be..FloteRite, Rivers Edge or Apple River Hideaway? Looking for the best place for a weekend in July, would like a party atmosphere.

Kristen, I just heard Apple River Hideaway is sweet. It's the one half way down the river. I guess you start at your camp site, tube to the Dairy Queen and the bus will take you to the top of the river and you tube back the camp sites. After that you can hang on the riv and party with the tubers going by. What weekend you going up? We'll be there July 20-23 with a group of 7 or 8 guys. |

I just talked to the owner of Apple River Hideaway. She said that the owners of Apple River Campground decided to sell the property for development. There will no longer be a campground in that location.

I used to work at the campground for 8 years. Left last summer and it went way down hill. It blows big time putting that many years of hard work and dedication to the place and meeting all sorts of fun people and she decides to close it down. The original owner was a good friend of the family and was a blast to work for. After he passed away his sisters took over and did not know how to run a campground. The last news I heard was that she didn't want to open and was trying to sell it for real estate. If I hear anything else I will be sure to post it on here. Rivers Edge would be the next best place to go.

Tubeman- Is it Rivers Edge or Apple River Hideaway? I heard Rivers Edge is not on the river tube route.
I thought Apple River Hideaway was the one half way down the tube. |

For anyone looking to party it up at the Riv this weekend (July 20-23, 2006), we'll be at the Apple River Hideaway. Look for the 10 guys camping on a couple river sites. There will be a suprise guest coming in on Friday. One hint..My Name Is ___!!!!!!!

I was wondering about this campground as well. I think we are going to try hideaway as well. We camped at Rivers Edge last year on the 4th weekend and we didnt enjoy it very much at all. You camp in a big field with no trees and it is not along the river.

We @ Apple River Hideaway a of couple weeks ago and had a great time. We typically stayed at Apple River Campground. Hideaway was great, we had a big group, made a lot of noise and never were bothered. We arrived on Thursday and camped on the river. Look for the sites with the little sand bar in front of them. That's where all the tubers hang. Ask security about the Hot Legs Contest. Love the Riv. |

I have been hearing that the river is closed for the next few seasons... is this true?

Is that the place where everyone gets an inner tube to float the river and your group gets an extra tube to hold the beer cooler, and then you float along until you see a can target?
That was fun, everyone could stand to dunk their ask in the Apple river at least once in a lifetime. |

ahhhhhhhhh nother child hood memory... and one of my favorites,,,,, what ever happened to the Ol APPLE RIVER????? didn't realize anyone still even went there.... hmm I remember when I was a kid them RAPIDS looked so huge...... and i'd stop, get off my tube,,, cuz I was petrified of em.. lmaooo 10 bucks says now they'd be a piece of cake.. was a blast,, my whole family unit used to camp there,,, mom, dad,, they'd load us all up in the ol station wagon.. off to the river we'd go, was nice n close.. not to far from home,, then to top off the weekend dad would take us to the DQ........ lolol....then when I got older and went there,,, didn't have sense enough to go down the river just once,, went down 2 or 3 times..... got so dang sun burned.. couldn't even walk to the car... it's slowly but surely fading away I kinna think... had the feeling for years now that eventually won't even be such a thing as the "apple river"

Somerset has changed. The main highway no longer goes through the town. Somerset Campground closed for many reasons. The land has gotten extremly valuable. To run a place like that is a nightmare.Too many inconsiderate people. It can still be fun to go there, just don't expect much. The campgrounds are a joke and the people that run them have no concern for your welfare.Keep an eye on your friends or family. It can be a very dangerous place to be.

I hope the Riv wont be closed next season. I know The Apple River Campground is no longer around..they are developing the land. A group of us went there last year (July 2006) and had a grreat time..as always. We'll be there again July of this year...We're the ones that party like rock stars July 19-22 2007 at Apple River Hideaway. I get a couple sites on the river where the tubers stop (sand bar).
