Tried talking to some guys that say, I'm on the fence. What I really did was talk to guys that want to stay ignorant and see what happens. I've got all the respect in the world for someone who stands by their convictions. Yes or no, I have respect for you, but if you're on the fence and choose not to attend the meetings and remain ignorant of what is going on, then you deserve what is coming your way.
I still have coworkers that think we HAVE to go on strike, if we institute a union. Guys that say, it doesn't matter what we do, the cuts are coming. Young guys that say they aren't worth the money they make. Really? Why do you even get up in the morning? Who told you, you were worthless?
Our next meeting is March 24th, 2 PM, at the Elk's Lodge. Be there, if you care at all about your coworkers and their families. Just get the information and make an informed decision. Get the hell off the fence.
The last meeting not very many people knew about. It is difficult to make an appointment you don't l know about.

On the fence, simply means that it's hard to feel represented personally when you still have 8-10 guys are making a decision for the rest of us at the bargaining table. What the committee agrees on may not be what I agree with and vice verse. Maybe somebody can help explain this??

They pass out a questionnaire so we can all share our ideas and to express any concerns we have with them, the union, or the company. We all turn them in and the commitee analyzes all of them, to create our contract proposals.

The production and manufacturing part of Rotek should be run by union employees, i'm saying that if a union foreman tells me to do something extra, compared to a salaried foreman (who now gets our bonuses for our efforts) I am more likely to not develop an "Us against them" attitude
like the way it is since I started there !

I understand not being at a meeting you didn't know about, but not missing the one on the 24th at 2:00. I personally, would rather have a committee of my peers look out for the collective interests of the hourly employees, than have the heartless Dr. Tim dictate what my future is. He cares about nothing about anyone at Rotek, salary or hourly. His only care is the bottom line and big bonuses for himself. If you're worried about the people who may represent you, or even if you're not, run for an office and BE one of the people. Get involved, go to meetings and ask questions and volunteer. Either way, a collective voice is much stronger and louder than that of an individual. Good luck to all hourly employees of Rotek, both North and South.

How do we know that if we organize that there won't be secret meetings we don't know about to be able to voice our opinion or vote?

Oh so is this a personal invite? Or is everyone invited? Cause it has been brought to my attention that it was posted on here. However, not everyone is going to get on topix I think everyone knows that so it's important to spread the word if your serious. It's my understanding that 25 people showed up to the last meeting.... Clearly if there is that kind of turn out again that's nowhere near enough. I'm hoping the meeting on the 24th of march is open to everyone and not the selected few. This whole secret stuff is very scetchy and is not much of a confidence builder. So I guess my point or question is...... Is everyone allowed to know about the 24th? Can the word be spread?

Yes please tell everybody. Please spread the word. Everyone was allowed to go to the last two meetings, but the word didn't get out. why I don't know.

From my understanding from my compadres up north, is that these meetings are not organizing meetings or union recruiting meetings at all. The intention for theses meetings is to inform you of details on the current situation. And to answer any questions that anyone might have. The workers in Florence must realize that we aren't trying to pressure you into organizing. These meetings are based on facts and to develop a direct line of communication between our facilities. Where these meetings go from here is totally up to the workers in Florence.

you have to fill the white cards out, before you can have a vote. before you get the white cards, you have to be at this meeting to show the Rep there is enough support, or no white card. it's going to have be a high percent of 150 guys. that the way it is!

Rotek Florence is doing great man! I'm not scared im very happy with my yearly wages I don't want to take a chance on losing the work environment we currently have. I'm afraid the union would try changing that. I mean there is a great deal of people that feel the same way.

robtek I don't think anyone is saying that they are. But if people are happy how they are then they should be able to not be in favor of the organization without be judged or thought badly of.

North and south, funny the south doesn’t want to participate in what is happening in the north the south might as well slip their hair under their hat and imagine that, me working for you.
Sign, sign everywhere a sign, gosh what on earth would make anyone in the south think that they weren’t next. Just shaking my head hum? I understand assemble yourselves together, my guess is that the more the better. I just don’t see any one David battling this giant and or whatever else is coming on down the road. No scare tactics just plain logic Rotek holds the name to both plants and if Ohio’s equipment was up to par none of this would be happening in the first place but everybody will take the burn except for those that implemented it and wasted the investors money. Peace Out
