Kudos to the Good Samaritan. Unfortunately, this type of thing happens more times than not. Honestly, it doesn't take a lot of thought to just pick up the phone and call someone to come pick you up if you are unable to drive. It's bad enough to do this by yourself, but with an innocent child in your care? Grow up and show your child how to be a responsible adult!!

Too bad that's not always the situation. The other day my neighbor was having an argument with her husband. He was drunk and wanted to drive. She took the keys aways so he wouldn't drive...drunk. He called the cops and they came immediately, but they told her she had to give him the keys or else they'll arrest her. Which is freaking crazy. She was arguing, saying he was really drunk, which you could obviously tell by the way he was slurring and walking. But they still made her give him the keys.

They leave and about 20 minutes later, he drives off.

Really? I'm 61 years old and have NEVER witnessed a drunk neighbor, either while growing up in Andover or while living in Windham, NH as an adult.

Where do you live? Appalachia?

This doesnt sound right. If this man killed someone after the cops made her give him his car keys knowing he was impaired, there would be a very big lawsuit happening with the cops responding to that call. You dont hand a drunk person keys to a car even if it is their car.

Then consider yourself lucky. I've lived in both places. I used to live on Main Street in Andover and have witnessed it all. So stop. Just because you haven't seen it, doesn't mean it has never happened.

What they said to her was that if he gets in that car, then they'll stop him. They never stopped him.

To protect and serve huh? If this happened at a bar, the establishment would be held responsible. They would call for a cab, if the person refused they would have to call the cops and they would not let this person drive. Which is completely legal. This makes no sense.
