We had a salesman come to our home and sell us a Verizon package that had TV, internet, and phone service. What he didnt tell us is that Verizon TV service isnt available in this area, and they have contracted with DirecTv to provide the TV portion of their "great package". DirecTv showed up and stuck a dish on the side of our house, and we now have satellite TV service, which isnt anything we would ever have knowingly signed up for.
Now, whenever it rains or snows, we cant watch TV because the precipitation interferes with the TV signal. The other day, our TV signal went out when there was a sever storm in Worcester !! It wasn't even raining here !
When the fast talking sleazy Verizon salesman comes to your house to sell you the Verizon Fios TV service, don't sign up for it. Its not available in this area, the sleazy salesman is going to conveniently "forget" to mention it, and you will end up with a satellite dish that doesn't work 3 or 4 times a month.

When the guy came to the house to install the dish, I told him that we had no idea that we were getting satellite TV or a dish bolted to the side of our house, and he said that NO ONE in our area had been told ahead of time that the Fios service was not actually part of the package and that they would be getting this crappy service instead of a reliable cable signal.
Remember, if you live in this area, a TV service that cuts out when it rains or snows is NOT a good idea, and it should be avoided. Of course, the salesman knew that, which is why he "forgot" to mention that fact that his plan didn't include the cable that was in the sales brochure, it was a dish instead.

I had a similar problem at my NH residence.
We got the same story when the dish installer showed up to put up our dish. We had NO IDEA that we were getting a dish instead of the Fios that we were told about. And, like the post above, we lose our signal whenever it rains or snows. Considering the weather in this area, I think it was incredibly sneaky of our salesman not to make it very clear that we would be getting a dish instead of cable. Our dish installer told us that he was hearing this story at every house he went to. NONE of the people who getting the DirecTv dish installed had realized that that was what they were signing up for.
I believe that the salesman who spoke to my wife and I intentionally misled us into signing a contract that he suspected we would NOT have signed had we know that we were not going to be able to watch our TV everytime it rained or snowed. We were never told that we would not have cable TV service. I think that someone should investigate this.
As soon as our year contract is up, we will be going back to cable TV.
Verizon should be ashamed at the business practices of its salesmen representatives in my area of Southern NH, and they should be held liable for that sneaky, underhanded young man who came to our house and sat in our living room and intentionally neglected to emphasize that fact that we were getting dish service instead of cable.

And of course, we only had certain channels during last nights storm.
