I want to thank Paula J. Owen for writing this article. It is a nice piece of work and it supports what I have been saying all along: cops should not be allowed to have ties to bars; especially in the same town or city that they are employed in.

In this article; Paula apparently contacted police chiefs in Clinton. Uxbridge, Sterling and Holden. And, all of them are saying that they recognize that it is a conflict of interest when a cop owns a bar. And, they also say that they do not allow it in their towns or cities.

Meanwhile, here in Fitchburg; we apparently can't even get a comment out of police chief DeMoura on the subject. I think that he owes all of us Taxpayers an explanation as to how he views this issue. After all, we are paying him roughly $140 K per year; plus a free car; so I think that he should be saying SOMETHING on the subject. I suppose that if he actually ways in support of the idea of allowing his boys to either own bars; or have direct ties to bars; he would have already said something. So, I would also suppose that by saying nothing, it lets us know that he is not in support. But again, he really ought to be speaking to us about it.

With the recent rhubarb over at JR's Pub; I think that our Chief looks foolish by seemingly ignoring the whole ugly mess.

Then again, apparently Chuckles The Cop has denied that he has anything to do with the running of JR's. But, as Paula's article here points out; apparently Chuckles The Cop himself has applied for permits related to the business in the past.

Chiefy Boy?.....DeMoura Baby?.....are you out there, ol' pal?......please give us all your take on all of this, Chiefy Boy. We are paying you the big bucks; and you have a nice shiney free car to go along with it; so you owe it to us; Chief Baby....

Come on Chiefy Boy......you can do it!

And how many towns do allow it? So because you've found a few that support your position that does not necessarily mean your position is correct.

You're right though, forget heroin and meth running rampant on our streets, illegal parking and a bar owned by a cop are the real issues facing Fitchburg. Those are the issues the Chief should be held accountable for, not drugs and crime.

Your hardon for cops is laughable.

So Darn only posts from work. Interesting. Your employer is aware of the time you're stealing from them? Since you want everyone held to high standards you must be holding yourself to that same standard right?

Sure you are.

JR's has been in business for the better part of 25 years, Chuck Siomos has never been sole owner, it's always been a family owned business and it's been one of the better establishments in town, regardless of what YOU hear. Chuck has been part of JR's long before he became a cop. As far as I'm concerned the Chief owes you nothing. They run a good business. Whats with the names, Chiefy Boy?, What an immture jack@ss.

I strongly feel that our illustrious Chief DOES owes us all a comment on the subject.

Let's see....a cop has direct ties to a bar. The cop and some of his patrons park illegally for years. That bonehead McNamara; who is our Traffic and Parking Enforcement Officer; gives his pal Chuckles The Cop a free pass for illegal parking over at JR's. A Mayoral candidate takes pictures of illegally parked vehicles and notifies the people who should step up to the issue; but the illegal parking continues. The Mayoral candidate is in the process of taking additional pictures of illegally parked vehicles over at JR's; when a fight breaks out; involving the very cop who has direct ties to JR's...

But still; even in spite of all THAT; Chiefy Boy is mum on the subject.

No; I'm afraid that with the money he is being paid; and the fact that this is a very public debate; Chiefy Boy DOES owe the Taxpayers a comment on the subject.

How about it; Chief?

Hey Darn,

Thanks for the break you gave us over the Memorial Day holiday...it was a wonderful holiday, and was special since we didn't have to hear you whining!

You may commence with your endless crying and whining about cops. It is interesting that so few towns see it as a direct "conflict of interest", when it doesn't have to be. Stopping anyone from owning a LEGAL BUSINESS because they are a law enforcement officer would border on discrimination.

If you had your way, all law enforcement officers would be horse-whipped as soon as they complete a shift and would eat beans for sustinence.

Here's hoping you end up in jail with your buds.

You mean a mayoral candidate (or so he says)a convicted felon with a history of police assults went looking for a fight and picked an establishment that is owned by the "FAMILY" of a cop he has been harrassing for quite some time. The Chief isn't saying anything because there is nothing to say. First off, Siomos dosen't own the bar, his family does, for 25+ years, how many times do you need to hear that. The case is in the courts, if there is anything to be said it should wait until AFTER the case is done. One question I have for Lynch, was he at the Memorial Day Parade yesterday?

I suggest that you go and re-read my posts, champ. I never said that Chuckles The Cop owned JR's. But, I did say that he has direct ties to it. After all; it has now come out that Chuckles The Cop's name is on some of the permits from the past. And, either Chuckles The Cop has a twin brother out there; who spends a whole lot of time over at JR's; or it is actually Chuckles The Cop himself.....

The illegal parking; the loud music and the screeching tires all would have ended years ago; if JR's did not have direct ties to a cop. You are going to scramble to deny this fact; but I think it is a safe bet.

And, you clowns are acting like the writer of this story polled every last police department in the state about the issue of cops and bars; and only 4 towns or cities had a problem with it. That is a real stretch! My guess is that she only polled a few.....

It certainly defied logic that JR's Pub was allowed to totally baricade the tail end of North Street off; dead nuts in front of the Fire Station. I believe that somehow they were getting away with this once or twice a week; for months on end; for a few years running!

Tell me that anyone besides a cop could have pulled that off!

So he has direct ties? big deal! You would be surprised at how many cops, firemen, lawyers and politicians have ties to local resuraunts and bars. The only people whining about JR's is you and Lynch. There is load music all over the city, I'd rather it be confined to a bar than listening to it from a car driving behind me. Yoiu can hear the thump coming a mile away. As far as screeching tires that also goes on all over the city and at all hours as is illegal parking. Find something else to whine about.
Also where in the article did it say that JR's has been family owned for 25+ years, well before Siomos became a cop. She did leave that little detail out. You must be really alone and empty if this is all you caan find to $itch about.

AAA,

You must admit that Darn does get a lot of attention on the forum because of his constant whining about those bad bad cops.

He obviously isn't much of a man a more like a little sissy boy...whine whine whine.

A real man would actually go do something about it instead of whining on this forum.

Ho my lan... here I find this topix site since Sentinel changed (and made it impossible to have a productive commenting section) to hopefully find some interesting opinions on different topics.... and the first I click on that isn't years old is engaging Darn Tootin on a subject about police. Go figure. Take my advice and just skip it. Long ago, when he turned a kid dying in a car accident into a cop conspiracy, that was the last time I read a word. Too bad too, cuz under all that hating he really had some points... sometimes.

Interesting....you say that the only people whining about JR's is myself and Lynch. If that really is the case; then why did the Sentinel and Enterprise print this story? Obviously, someone felt that the story is of interest to the general public. Which it is.

And, once again, you bring up the brilliant defense of: everyone else is doing it; so why shouldn't the folks over at JR's do it? I love this reasoning: Your Honor; many people are breaking into houses these days; so why focus on my client? Or: You Honor; many people are dealing in drugs in Fitchburg; so I feel that no real wrong doing was commited by my client. Or: Ladies and Gentlemen of the Jury; please remember that drinking and driving is common place in todays world. Based on that you have no choice but to find my client innocent.

Sorry little guy but your reasoning doesn't fly with me at all. My point is that what you consider major issues at JR' are trivial compared to what is really going on in this city as do 99% of the posters on this forum. You and Lynch are basically the only ones that have issues with JR's. As far as the Sentinal goes, they printed this story only AFTER it appeared in the Telegram which is quite common for them. Also just say that the Chief does ban cops from owning bars, it may not effect Siomos, why? Because he doesn't own the F'n place you idiot. His family does and have for the past 25+ years. Also all he has to do is become a silent partner. Lynch thinks he is taking a stand to me is nothing more than a coward. He is a convicted murderer with a long history of assults on police. If he had any concern for the people in Fitchburg he would be taking pitcures of drug dealers, hookers, ect.
He's got no stones at all. Just think how much money it's going to cost the taxpayer to pay for ink to put his name on the ballot. They could hire another cop

The story was printed in the Worcester Telegram because it was felt that it was of interest to the general public. And, the story mentions JR's, point blank.

I have told you countless times; Dimwit; I know that Chuckles The Cop does not officially own JR's. You just refuse to listen.

Mass State Law says that as far as the issuing of liquor licenses go, it is "mandated by statute that all licencees have disclosed all persons who have a direct or an indirect financial or beneficial interest in the liquor license".

So, in this case; Chuckles The Cop's name had better been disclosed as having an interest in JR's Pub (because he DOES have an interest in JR's Pub).

So, knowing all that; it is a case of allowing a cop to have an interest in a liquor license; in the city that he is employed in.

Now do you get it; Sh#t For Brains? Again, I know damn well that Chuckles The Cop does not actually own it on paper. But, I also know damn well that he has an interest in the place. And, as a result; his name had better be listed on the liquor license.

Again, Dimwit; are you following me here? It really is not all that tough to understand. Have someone help you with it if you are still struggling with it.

When are you going to join the real world? Lynch is running for Mayor and has a right to know about everybody that is associated with the city!

Mr. Lynch does not want to see emergency vehicles being held up by illegally parked cars whic is a tow zone for this very reason!

He state a lot of false hoods about Mr. Lynch, you should print your real name so that Mr. Lynch can file a complaint on you!

I suggest that you take a tape measure and you measure the distance from the illegal parking and to sit and watch cars being forced onto the FFD driveway and then watch the FFD vehicles come to a complete stop leavig for an emegency! Are you ok with this fact? Or is it ok if it isn't your familys life that is depending on the FFD arrival in an emergency?

You seem to be a very self righteous person who feels priveleged and/or better than others! Why the name AA? Do you tke your mother to AA meetings? You should show your love and take yourself to an AA meeting when you drive your mom to one!
