Elect cobra and not pay premium?left job feb 28th. received cobra election info and the deadline for election is June 7th. If I do elect, I then have 45 days to pay.

I started a new job and my insurance will kick in July 1st. Am I correct in thinking I can do this?:

Elect on June 1st- do not sent payment
If something happens to us in June, then we just have to pay by July 15th to be covered.
If something does not happen, then we don't pay but my new coverage will start before we technically are no longer covered by Cobra.

Are there any repercussions to not paying?(IE goes on credit report, goes to collections...?)
