For many years Kroger on Old Troy Pike employed armed off duty police officers to prevent theft and provide security for the staff and customers.

They choose to get rid of off duty police officers and put security guards at the front door. We all know security guards are mostly retired ole guys or wannabe cops with little training and no powers of arrest. They said in the news it makes their customers feel safe. I don't know where they got that idea. Im a customer and they don't make me feel safe. It also makes it look like Huber Heights is so bad we need armed guards at our grocery.

Bad move kroger, it was better when we didn't know off duty cops were keeping us safe.

Geeez Kroger are you all scared to death of people in Huber Heights ? You don't see armed guards at any store in Huber Heights. I will not shop there anymore if things are so bad they need a security guard at the front door.

Read your ORC. 2935.041 Detention and arrest of shoplifters - detention of persons in library, museum, or archival institution.

And as far as I have observed these are well dressed and trained men and women. Sounds like some police are the wanna-be-security!

Keep up the good work security, I'm glad to see you there.

All the talk about the security at Kroger, does anyone really know the backgrounds of some of the officers..no..always quick to judge. I can tell you most of the back grounds from the officers hired are military and law enforcement..yes..veterans that cannot find jobs and police officers who doesn't make enough on Dept's they work to make a living. All that really matters is that the security company has done an awesome job with hiring the best in looking professional and doing a great job for Kroger. Next time you see an officer in Kroger, walk up and thank them for their services, I'm sure that will make their day...then make a call to the Security company and let them know how professional their officers are and how grateful you are to have them in your store. Myself, I've observed first hand how they go out of their way to make your experience a good one.

Go pet your unicorn. Let's ask michael Cartwright III if he cared that he shot the theater manager in the utopia of Huber Heights. If we think this city is safe I'll pet your unicorn!
