Thanks to the schools in and around Ohio the great flood in Ohio gets only a mention now..I remember when we had to write a book report on the flood when I was in the 6th grade..then had a field trip to Caroline Park for our history of Dayton,I remember the River Locks and seeing pictures of the damage by the flood ..And the streets I grew up on gone and some of the houses ..I miss those days growing up in the 50's and 60's ..

#2 Mar 20, 2013 was a hundred years ago? Dayton City Paper has a nice 100th anniversary flood insert in his week's issue; one of which I have saved and stored in a bookshelf for reference material. I can remember when people were alive at the time, who remembered or survived the flood, the Titanic sinking, the Spanish-American War and World War One, and flying with the Wright Brothers or watching them fly around and overhead; now they are all dead.

Breeding comprehension or reading comprehension? It does not strain the brain or even hurt to read this good Dayton City Paper/1913 Flood insert. I remember talking with one World War One veteran, inside VFW Post 657, off East Third Street, back in the 1970s; a pioneer veteran tanker who knew the young Lieutenant George S. Patton in France.
