Some of his friends say that an older kid gave him the gun. They do not believe he would "just play russian roulette" but that someone handed him the gun and he was just messin around thinking the gun was not loaded and that it was a "joke" omg...and I hear he has a little baby and that he loved that baby and would not leave this earth behind with his baby here.

My daughter is a friend of him.. Yes very sad.. It happened Fri night. There will be a wake for him Thurs at 3 at skate park. Also funeral on Friday. There was also an arrest made of the friend where this took place.

From what I gather alchohol was involved and he was fascinated with guns, always wanted to play russian roulette. Its such a tragedy. He was also a young father, and a great friend to many.

Another teenage suicide that The Kingman Daily Miner keeps on the down low. I know of three teenage suicides within the last 4 years all teenage boys that were Never in paper. Dont you think our community should be aware of this issue, to prevent more from happening... Again, another reason our teenagers need more entertainment in our city.

On Tuesday, February 17, Kingman Police Detectives arrested William Cadmus Cannon, 19 of Kingman, on a felony charge of 2nd Degree Murder. The investigation began during the early morning hours of Saturday, February 14, at about 1:30am. KPD received a 911 call from a residence in the 1600blk Arlington St., reporting that a 16 year old male, Duran Gregory Serna, had shot himself.
Officers arrived to find Serna dead of an apparent gun shot wound to the head. It was initially reported that Serna had been playing “Russian Roulette”. It was reported that there had been numerous people at the home prior to the shooting. Alcohol was involved. The investigation revealed numerous discrepancies. On Tuesday Cannon was arrested and brought to KPD, where he confessed that he had shot Serna, killing him. The investigation is on going. Cannon was booked into the Mohave County Jail.

We know he didn't shoot himself...but his mother was quoted in the Daily Miner saying that she believes it was an "accident" and she doesn't blame the shooter. However, the shooter allegedly confessed and is charged with 2nd degree murder. We don't know all the circumstances. As for the rest of the people that were there and left just before the police came...just put your big boy/girl panties on and do what is right~tell the truth! Duran would have wanted you all to do the right thing! And if there is anything to be learned here, it is that parents need to supervise their teens and know where they are and who they are hanging out with. Alcohol and drugs are NOT ok...even pot! Teens do not like parents to be up their butt...but, they will thank you later in life (if they live). It is your job! This was a recipe for disaster: Teens, alcohol, drugs, guns. It only takes a second and one wrong decision to forever change your life. Now we have one dead boy, one fatherless boy and one young man whose life is forever ruined.
Prayers to the family...RIP Duran.

I knew Will and Duran. This is all so insane, I keep getting phone calls from my friends and everyone is hurt about the situation, not only for Duran but for Will as well. I just can't believe either of them would be that stupid.

Parents! Just so you know, there was a boy at the funeral WITH A GUN! And...several kids were in the parking lot SMOKING POT! They just don't get it! And obviously you parents don't get it either! This should have been dealt with immediately but the ADULT who knew, thought they could control the situation...the police should have been called!(I didn't know this until late last night, but today I will be contacting the police. I don't know what, if anything, can be done after the fact but I have to try.)
If Duran could tell us anything...it would be to learn a lesson from what happened! But instead, some of the kids said they were so depressed they were going to go "party".
Drugs, Alcohol and Guns are disaster waiting to happen.
Yes, Duran was a great person...but he was ignorantly putting himself and others at great risk. He was with the wrong people, doing risky things.
It's just so sad that this happened..I am truly concerned for our kids. How do we reach them????

No comments from the community parents??? It is interesting that there are 7963 comments on the defunct Rhodes Development subject and NO comments on a subject that should really concern the community! Doesn't it concern all of you that teens are walking around with guns...drinking alcohol and doing drugs?

This tragedy will continue to happen until the community comes together. These kids need support!

Kingmangirl, I'm sorry for you loss and pain. It is insane! Alcohol and drugs turn perfectly normal, intelligent people into profoundly stupid and unconscionable!

Hello everyone FYI... Duran was not playing anything... Check with the police, he was a an inocent victum of homicide. The "man" that killed him, Will, was of age to drink in and carry a gun in AZ. He confessed to the murder, and cover-up of the shooting. He shot Duran without provocation then told everyone it was roulette to save himself.

Yes! Hello everyone....Duran was not playing. Will is of an age to drink and carry a gun. He has confessed but might now get off with just a manslaughter conviction because probable eyewitnesses do not want to testify. And what happened to others that were present that night being possible accessories? Parents, friends of Duran etc...you need to go to your prosecutor and let him know that you will not take this lying down. Will should not go unpunished!!! "Friends" do not do this to "Friends"
