Take a detour back in time on historic route in Arizona
There is not much that remains of the original Route 66, proclaimed the "Mother Road" by John Steinbeck in his 1939 classic novel "The Grapes of Wrath." The historic route has largely been swallowed up, or bypassed, by the development of the Interstate highway system.

nice story, but it didnt cover 66 after youo went thru kingman,left at the trian park, follow 66 past crazy freds truck stop, cross cattle gurd, trt at the stop sign, go under the free way (I40 follw rt 66 signs, turn left on oatman road, you ar on rt 66 ,you will cross the flats, wind up thru a mtn range, then wind down to oatman, on the way down you will see gold mines, when you get to oatman,look out for the donkeys,they have the right of way, enjoy...
