well if the majority if auto accidents are caused by chevy's guess we should ban them also,and if most violent crimes are committed by people wearing sandals guess we should ban sandals. don't know if this sounds more like stalin or bush,anyboby want to weight in on this?

I had a beautiful and loving pittbull for a long time and never once had an issue. It was around children and all sorts of people and was just as gentle as any other dog. We kept her mentally stimulated with exercise and plenty of toys and gave her love and attention as all dogs require. To ban a dog because of what people think they are is the dumbest most assinine (Im sure this word is spelled wrong.) thing I have ever heard.

One reason for this is that they are the most reported! Any dog can be mean if it is not raised right or you mix breads! I had a cocker wiener mix and he had a attitude from hell! The first day he snapped at me he was gone the next day! All dog owners need to take responsibility for their pets! The best way to be responsible is get your pet fixed ASAP! When I was 5 yrs. old....I was bit in the face (upper lip) and still have the 8 stitches scars to prove it. It was a severe bite from our family dog...was that a pit bull?...NO! It was a small Boston Terrier! PLEASE people...I have had pit bulls and they can be the sweetest most loyal dogs ever!
If you treat them good, they will treat you good. It you were to treat any breed horribly and cruel....you can expect bad behavior in return. Pit Bulls get such a bad reputation...If they are loved and cared for and respected they are wonderful dogs! DON'T BAN PIT BULLS! The owner is responsible for the temperment of their pit bull...The breed is not responsible..it is how they are trained!

you have sheep in this county who will jump on anything the media tells them to,some dogs are bad from birth just like humans,but like people dogs are taught/made to go bad. people need to wake up and read between the lines.

My commet is for Jlee I own a woderful pit bull. I have had pit bulls all my life and never had a problem.It all depends how you raise them.It is a form of racism,If they put in the news all the good stuff pit bulls do good it would out way the bad,but people are stupid and if you feel the same . I'm sorry your missing out on knowing a very wonderful breed of dog

We should ban cars too. Cars kill 114 people each day in the US.

We should also ban baseball. More baseball injuries each year than dog bites.

We should also ban parents. Parents are 4 times more likely to kill their child than their family dog is.

We should also make murder illegal, because that would stop the murder rate.

No, Not all done. Legislators are wanting to take our RIGHTS to own these dogs away. Until the danger is GONE of them doing so, I feel it should be TALKED about as much as possible.

Of these 60 attacks in the past 20 years, how many were actually CONFIRMED pit bulls? Have you seen any of the research done on media reports about pit bull attacks. Over half the stories reported are later proven to be other dog breeds. Do we see stories about these retractions of new story errors? No.

Truthfully (and I have worked at a petco grooming salon for more than 6 years, so have been in contact with an enormous variety of breeds and mutts) the most agressive dog I have EVER come into contact with was a Chihuahua. Why, because it's owner did not train it correctly.

Im originally from Illinois, I find it laughable that cities and counties in general ban specific breeds of dogs. It shows that the lawmakers are more concerned with non-issues than actual issues. To those that feel they should be banned but have never been around them and are getting your information from other news stories, do homework before posting. Those that have had issues first hand what was the owner like, or was it a stray thats instincts had taken over like any other stray or wild dog will do. Ive raised many different animals throughout the years and would have to say the Pitbull was by far the most passive. Most aggressive and far more deadly was a Vietnamese Giant Centipede. Most violent dog I ever owned was a Tea Cup Yorky.

Ok i am starting something in my city i will not be shutout anymore. You all can do this in your cities i am volunteering as much as i can fighting for Pit Bull rights as well as other breeds that have a bad rap. I have sick of the hatred and the abuse i believe that animal abusers and killers should be punished the same way human abusers and human killers. ALL dogs deserve a chance i believe BREED RESTRICTIONS should no longer be put in place at apartments complexes or town homes. I would volunteer my time to evaluate each and every dog coming into an apartment complex or town home community. The breed was specifically designed to fight often to the death in a cruel and awful "sport" that like gladiators has long since lost legitimacy and is outlawed in every civilised country in the world. This animal need not exist. It kills humans and there is NO justification for continuing to breed its kind. NONE. If your animal kills or mauls a person you should face the the death penalty as your punishment for owning it and the dog must be put down at once while you await a possible capital charge without bond.

Now how many of you want to take that kind of risk?

This is the risk you are asking your fellow citizens to take by owning such a specific purpose breed. They were/are designed to kill or maul. Will you live with this on your conscious all your life after the fact? It is insane.
