The poor, poor Progress Energy managed to goudge its customers for a ridiculous 25% rate increase.
Public utilities. Public service commission. Whatever happened to good old public service to the public.
I bet if Progress Energy was in the plight of this lady the good ole taxpayers of Florida would have had to bail out the utility.
Big companies, Progress Energy included, need to realize it is here to serve to public. Not goudge them.
Way to go, folks of Lake County. There still are some good people in this world. And we aren't all politicians or corporations begging for a handout from our government.

this be article I've read!!! It's wonderful to know that the residence of Lake County are warm and can feel the need of the disadvantage. I agree with the above comment. It's awaful.....everytime a crisis happen the politicians have a way to get the money from the tax payers. Living in Lake County is expensive anyway. With a minimal income rent starting at $700 a month........what is happening to the "Land of the Free"?

Richie says: More important, perhaps, is the assurance that people care -- that someone she never will know reached out to catch her simply because she is another child of God. And because it was the right thing to do. Those acts of kindness bind us all together in a strong community."

She may be a "child of God", but where was God when the power was turned off, and hardship began?
