"Austin's mom, Karen, wanted school officials to recognize Beth's honesty on the morning announcements at school, but officials said they couldn't do that."
Why not?!? Isn't that part of teaching.?
BTW, thanks Lauren for doing their job for them.
Way to go Beth! Way to go "Miss Donna"!

Typically anal retentive school administrators and we wonder why OUR SCHOOLS are failing? Our kids are for the most part just great but this sort of narrow mindness is just plain stupid on the part of the pinheads at Tavares Middle School. The School Board should make it a special point to recognize this young lady and clarify their policies to allow the pinhead administrators to openly recognize good deeds without the feeling on those administrators' parts that someone will somehow endanger their 401K's and look over their shoulders to criticize them. Disgraceful and cowardly.

Good going girl and america's future will be in good hands with wonderful young adults like you. Thank you for reminding me that there are plenty of wonderful young americans out there and you are not all gangbangers and dope heads.

Ms. Palin should be made to feel welcome during her visit to Lake County but it speaks volumes as to Sen. McCain's chances to win the presidential election when the only places that she is allowed to visit and speak in a semii-public forum are in tightly controlled strongly partisan enclaves like The Villages.

Let me triple this comment. When I was in middle school, I had perfect attendance one year... no absences, no tardiness, no dismissals. The assistant principal wanted to mention this during morning announcements, but the principal said "No, it's just someone doing what he is supposed to do." The fact that I recall the incident all these years later should suggest why I think the failure of the administration at Tavares Middle School to recognize outstanding character and personal integrity was a mistake.

The young lady did a good and honest act deserving of special attention and accolades. The school administration should SEEK OUT this type of student and hold them high for the others to see as a positive example of good citizenship. If you wear a skirt too short, you make headlines. Do a good deed and it's not news. Thanks Lauren for covering the story. OH! Austin, that's too much money for ANY student to be carrying around at school!

Who would make the better President?

The guy who was the president of the Harvard Law Review, or the guy who can't remember how many houses he owns?

Chris, You are obviously under forty YOA. You are suffering from a disease
know as Rectal Cranial Inversion. fortunately there is a cure. Pull your head out of your butt. the best
Presidential candidate for the U S is
the one who is not communist/ socialist trained by Frank Marshall Davis. Added to his Muslim upbringing.
The best Presidential Candidate is
the team of McCain-Palin. It is the only choice to save this country as we know it. Now, on the other hand
if you have an alternative lifestyle
and know that Chicken Little was right
the sky is falling. You might very well want to elect Nobama who will obviously speed up you demise. the
choice is yours. right or Wrong, you decide. But, you will live with this decision.

By the way, lucky McCain is married to the Beer Lady. He don't need to worry about how many houses she has or how many vehicles are in the yard.

He has spent his whole life fighting
for idiots like us so we can get on
a computer and blog each other with
all this sh...it that is not saving this country from communism.

Do you feel better now? You should.
Cause I'll bet your mother wears hip boots!

Hey,

What's the scoop on the great trip
made by the sexual intellectuals.
Sounded like a waste of somebody's money to me. What's to gain, they both
know it all already. If you don't believe that just ask um.
