Howardsville Boat Ramp Battle

Boaters on the James River have one less stop in southern Albemarle County, at least for the time being.

It's been several weeks now and the landing is still closed. I can understand Mr. Crews' frustration with those not respecting his property but there are options. As a Howardsvillian, I would be willing to pay an annual fee to be able to use the landing. I believe many would. This would cover the cost of liability as well as a dumpster for the site. Parking stickers could be issued for monitoring or a gate with a combination lock- combination only given to subscribers once a year and then changed every year. This is exactly what a neighbor upriver does with his private access landing. Not being able to use the landing makes the quality of life in Howardsville not what it used to be, which is very sad.

Could the reporter on this story please see if they can get an update? I would like to hear what is going on with the CSX crossing as well. I just heard there is no railroad crossing permit in place anymore and that the railroad crossing there will be shut down.
