You are too stupid to believe. Why wouldn't Sand Lake FD have responded? Your Grandpa put it out all by himself?? Must have had a big bucket.........

Even when they are now reporting that the owner was going to start a restoration on it this coming weekend? Sounds like they were clearing the silos and scrap out so they could start the renovations.
Does anyone know the actual date of the house fire years ago?

The girl was inside the barn smoking a cigarrette[sp] and then she found a liter. so she set the leaves on fire. she told me that it spread so fast that she couldn't stomp it out.
my dad rented the barn from joe. the girl goes to my school. she doesn't come by me anymore.

I just find it all a shame when a piece of history is lost forever. I don't even live anywhere near the area, but found the barn out on a photographic outing. I took several beautiful photos of it, and later went and learned some of the history and stories behind it, which made me even more curious about the man who built it. I was very sad to hear about the fire and loss of such a cool structure.
The tone of some of the postings here just shows plain disregard for the value of property, the historic value, and respect for others.
