I noticed the rooms the patients are in look, like a shed! they are two or three people working there .only one nurse who would know anything, but if they don't have rehab or work with them, whats the point being there!! they should be in hospital one person in there who has bed sores! noticed the trac in neck had blood and yellow stain around it!! sad. and how do they take care of bed sores! so you should check your loved one out if possible please!

I worked at Piqua Manor for years. So.... first, the fact that you say the rooms look like a shed tells me that you've never stepped foot in any other nursing home. Piqua manor offers both private and semi private rooms. Second, piqua manor does in fact offer therapy. Physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy. They also have a restorative team that works with residents. Third, two or three people working there??? There are two to three people PER WING! Fourth, many residents come out of the hospital with bed sores. Its common knowledge that if a patient is in the hospital for very long, they will more than likely come out with some level of a bed sore. Nursing homes have "turn schedules" to prevent bed sores. Fifth, its very common for trachs to have drainage. Your post shows that you have absolutely zero medical knowledge. To the original post, if you have questions regarding any facility, ask to see their state surveys.(Piqua Manor keeps their files of surveys in the lobby.) This will show you what citations a facility has received.

They always put a good show up front... the bed my brother was in was so narrow if you turned him..he would have no choice but to fall out!!..and he could not use his left side.. so i would say he probably rolled out of bed or trying to turn him and he fell.. not sure but was told he was black fron his hip dn his legs when he passed..and took pneumonia which stayed at the top of his trac in neck..they did not know how to clean or suction it!! was took back and forth to hospital..for pneumonia numerous of times.. why they someone did not take him to another home in Tipp city .. or somewhere .. i think they killed him there ..my believe and don't believe anything they say!! he was used to being disabled and could have made it! and reason he reach out for someone who walk by ..he could not see out of one eye and did not have his contacts in the other! my believe he was not turned every 2 hrs...unless your there every day ..they do not do what they suppose to ..and lie.. about all the homes i been in with family do.. it was not his time to go... he was let down and got no help.. family wasn't called in time to be there befor he passed... they will do away with nursing homes one day!! sooner the better... my brother should not have layed there with fluid filling up in his lungs!! and he had time to go to hospital to get help ..but i feel someone did not want the hospital to see how he had been took care of ..sad..better not be sick when you go there ..if they do not know how to clean a trac in neck...

Piqua Manors beds are standard hospital beds. You will see these beds in every nursing home and home health supply stores. It sounds to me like you're having difficulty accepting your loved one's death, and need to put the blame somewhere. Bed sores can be a complication of many issues... such as poor nutrition. As we get older, we tend to decrease the amount that we eat. The state monitors how many bed sores and the level of each that are at nursing homes. I'm sorry for your family's loss... but again, this wasn't piqua manors fault. From everything you've said, it sounds like he died of natural causes.

When I hear the words Piqua Manor it brings wonderful memories back to me. My mother worked there as a second shift nurse for many many years. Piqua Manor was a household name and she felt like they were part of her family. She did all she could for the manor and they treated her very well. I have worked there 3 times and my daughter and daughter in law have been nurses there as well. As far as nursing homes go. I have worked in them from Texas to Oklahoma from Troy Ohio to Columbus Ohio. I have never seen a better one. You say they don't have therapy, well then you have let your mouth over run your knowledge. They have 3 therapy departments as the lady mentioned above. The manor always had 3-4 nursing assistants on each hall and a nurse. If your loved one passed while at the manor then you may very well just be looking for something or someone to blame. Maybe you feel guilty because you didn't spend enough time with him yourself. Nursing home always get a bad wrap. But if it were not for the loving people who go to work everyday and take care of people who's family can't or don't want to take care of them, just where would your loved one be without a nursing home. Residents fall out of bed often because the government passed a law about dignity and bed rails, not Piqua Manor. If your loved one fell out of bed then it was not the nursing homes fault. Things like this happen. The rooms at the Manor are nice really I have seen much smaller and worse. I think maybe you should try to find peace with the fact that your loved one is gone and not try to find someone to blame. Don't feel guilty because you weren't there, just know that your loved one is resting well now.

Know not guilty but sad.. i thought he would be ok until i left to check on mother in tn who was passing and passed the same day my brother did!! so not at all a good time , but his family were having a party ..so nurse said they would be there soon..and he was fine ..told him i would be back..but felt like i should have stayed , but i called two of the family and told them.. they will have to live with not giving me the code to get information on him when i could not be there ..this guy in hospital said to me and my husband ..i quote ..i will have him off the ventilator Fri. and this was Wed. they sent him back to the nursing home that evening! why not two more days!! he had money to stay 2 more days..so much dn and make payments..they were rushing him ,befor his check started going to nursing home.. some family did not like when i would go get the nurse to get a doc or something ..because he was in horrible pain in Lima! he would chew the vent pipe into almost ..and push his fist and are dn so far & stiff in pain.. they did check and say it was in right place .. one family member said oh hes fine he loves to chew on the vent.. and he likes to stretch his arms.. one caregiver in family said the tube in side did not look good or right it was seeping .. reason be we found the tube was put through his colon and then in the stomach! sorry i will forgive but never forget! he did not want to go to lima hosp. and he should not had to.. i would told him if i had been there!..i was having a lot of issues at home.. good hearing something good about your experiences there god 's blessings to you..
